Love it...best game investment I ever made. Even better now that they opened a new distribution center a few hours away from me.

In the last 1.5 years I've had it I've bought 5 games and "rented" 38 others. L.A. Noire will be 39 and should be here tomorrow.

Overall, I think the service is saving me money in the long run. I mean, if you get a new'ish game from Gamestop or Amazon you're looking at $30-50. I was done with those games within a week, or at least sick of them. I tried to beat them within a week to take them back for a full refund at Gamestop (shady on my part, I know.)

The real crime is when you go to trade them back in you get like $15-$25 and they turn around and sell it again for $30-40. I know they are a retail establishment, but that's why I'm glad Gamefly is around because I can play these fringe games I wanted to try, but didn't want to exactly buy for $15 a month and not feel like I am being ripped off!

Yeah, I love Gamefly. I use it a bit differently than everyone else, as I'm not trying to get new releases from it, and I use it to catch up on games I missed.

Yeah that is basically what I do too Gig. There are just so many games to play that I can never get around to buying. Sports games though like The Show, NCAA Football and EA NHL I will buy outright.

When I had Gamefly I loved it, but the big turn off is It took forever to get here. Also had several shipping problems. That's main reason I don't use gamefly anymore. Other than that very good service.

I had it and am thinking about getting it again, especially if/when I get a PS3. There is a distribution center here in Tampa, so everything was fast for me I just didnt have time between school/work/and my social life. But now I graduated, am just working, and it looks like my gf and I are breaking up, I may go back to it. First though, I am probably going to go back and beat the games that I own and never got around to. Playing Mass Effect 1 right now, also need to play ME2, Fallout 3, Bioshock 1 and 2, and Assasins Creed. lol

The only annoying part for me was low availability on any game that I wanted to play it seemed.

Yeah, I mean, it's nice to catch up on old games that slipped through the cracks. By the time you finish those, the newer games will be available for you. What's great is that I have those two free games from the Playstation Welcome Back package to hold me over until the next game comes in.

Anyone know how the Gamefly's referral program works?

                  Thinking of a Gamefly account

Like the title says, i'm thinking of getting a gamefly account, with so many awesome games coming out this year i sort of think this is a smarter idea.

Now i'm not very knowledgeable in this field which is why i came to ask for some advice. I literally just got a Netflix account about a month ago and love it, it was a free trail but i've decided to stick with it. Now for gamefly, its one game a month for the $7.95 price? Does that mean i can receive a game ad when ever i'm done with it i can ship it back to another game, but i'm only allowed 1 game at a time for the standard price?

How often do they get new games is another question i have. I'm really thinking about getting this solely on those single player games coming out this year like Deues Ex and Assassins Creed Revelation. How long is the back order list? Cause if i have to wait a month for a game, i rather just go out an purchase it then. So any opinions? And if yes, should i sort of start it now and create my back order for future games?

Re: Thinking of a Gamefly account

That $7.95 is an introductory price for the first month, it's $15.99 a month after. $22.95 for two, I go with 3 for $29.95.

You can get a month free trial if you get a referral from a current member or certain codes.

Unless it has a peripheral, they ship games day before release. Getting them on release date is mildly tricky, but it works 95% of the time. The biggest issue is the post office, depending on where you live.

Edit: To get games on release, you need to have an open slot (I like to make sure the slot is open the friday before just so I can go to customer service on saturday if need be). Make sure the game is at the top of your Q with no other currently released games or games set to release on the same day (unless you want either game with no preference). It's very rare that I've not gotten a game on release using this method.

To expunge on postal service issues, games can take a long time and even get lost in the postal service. It all depends on where you live in regards to your hub, sometimes US mail takes moronic routes to get to it's destination. I can get games in two days if it's a new release, 3 if it's past release and games go back to them in anywhere from 4-9 days (after "7" days gamefly will release the slot for a new game while waiting for the return, and I've been known to fudge that timeline to insure I get a new release).

Re: Thinking of a Gamefly account

Ok cool, thanks. So your advice is to go for 3 games at one time? I don't game much any more like i used to. Like to keep it usually to one game a at a time. With games like Batman and Assassin's coming out i feel like this would be the best way to go around with these single player games which i won't play anymore after i've beaten them.

So for me to get a new release game on it date, i sort of have to have had it in my backorder previously and also to not have any games out so its a priority thing? In your opinion though, is it worth the price tag? Even if its like for someone like me who doesn't play a lot of games in a month anymore?

Look into blockbuster as well. when I was considering a game rental membership, I compared the two and blockbuster seemed to have the better deal. I ended up not signing up for one because with all the sports gaming I'm doing, it takes me a while to complete single player campaigns and it would be cheaper for me to buy the game than pay roughly 20 bucks a month since I can wait on these titles and just buy them when the price drops. But if I remember correctly, blockbuster is much cheaper.

Honestly, games have gotten so cheap these days, I don't think Gamefly is a good deal anymore.

Most games are down to $40 - $30 within two weeks of coming out.

You guys make a good point, the blockuster store near my house shut down. I really only wanted this for Assassin's Creed because i'm tired of paying full price for this annual game. Once the single player is complete i don't go back. With Batman and Deus Ex in the same boat, i'm sort of wondering about these rental services.

I'll look at Blockbuster online too before i make my decision

I liked it, I used it to supplement my gaming addiction. lol

Basically, I play sports games pretty heavily and play my other favorites like action adventure and FPS through Gamefly. My only problem was is that it took forever to get the games. Sometimes it'd take more tha a week. At $15/month that's ludicrous, but it's cheaper for me to buy this service than the shell out a stupid amount of cash on used games...

Something to note about blockbuster, is that you get what you pay for with them. For new games, they have a 3 month wait period before they even have it available, and then the backorder on the games is so bad that it might take another 3 months to even get it.

Example: I just got Dead Space 2 in the mail the other day
