    Just got this game for the PC. It's pretty-fun and the graphics looks great. Mouse+Keyboard work well and I'm actually able to pull-off moves much better than using a controller when I played the demo. I'm 3 levels in and I must say it's pretty exhilarating to pull-off jumps/moves and you're all like "Aww yeah, I just did THAT!"

      I got this from Gamefly yesterday and I ran through (literally) three chapters lol. This game is a breath of fresh air, I love the concept.

            EA Confirms Mirror's Edge 2 in the Works

            EA has finally confirmed that a sequel to Mirror's Edge is on the way. VideoGamer.com spoke with senior VP of EA in Europe Patrick Soderlund at E3. "You will see another Mirror's Edge for sure," he said. "It's just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I'm excited about what we do."

            This comes as welcome news to those who enjoyed EA's foray into original titles, with Mirror's Edge and Dead Space last year. Low sales for Mirror's Edge and critical analysts could have convinced EA to back away from original titles, but it seems they're pressing on. "Mirror's Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move," he said. "The game wasn't perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think."

            It sounds like EA has a good grasp on what went right and wrong with Faith's last parkour adventure, so we can hope the small team is taking notes and tweaking the gameplay. Perhaps more importantly, this is a sure sign that EA isn't giving up on more experimental franchises.

              Christ. I need to actually finish these games when I buy them. Everytime I look there's a sequel coming out!

                Just got this for under $30 and I've played it a good bit now. Very underrated game and well worth the discounted price, IMO. I'm curious--did anyone else get a little motion sickness playing this?

                  I didn't but it was certainly a problem for some. Apparently that red dot was added later in the development cycle because the motion sickness was even more rampant without something for your eyes to look right at.

                      I agree.

                      Some of the freshest, enjoyable gaming in a long time came at a cost of some of the most frustrating.

                      I guess that sums up EA games though

                        EA Discusses Mirror's Edge 2 Design Challenges

                        Mirror's Edge was a flawed but nevertheless interesting experiment that was viewed as a relative sales failure when it launched in 2008. Nevertheless, EA CEO John Riccitiello believes it merits a sequel, even as the publisher culls their development slate. They just need to figure out how to go about it (via Kotaku).
                        Riccitiello praised the original for what he called a "fascinatingly original world" and "fascinatingly original art direction." He called the gameplay a blast, but also said, "Sometimes you had a roll going, downhill, slide, jump, slide, jump and then you just got stopped. It sort of got in the way of the fun."

                        "It was like we couldn't quite decide if we were building Portal or a runner. And I don't think the consumer was ready to switch it up quite that way. You could say it was a sharp and great innovation. I believe that it was. You have to figure out what to do from here if you want it to be a five million seller versus a one-million unit seller."

                        Riccitiello said that he has had "several lively debated with the dev" on which direction to go.

                        "You could say: This thing needs to be more traditional. It's first-person game. There's a lot of successful FPS products out there that do really well. We could move in that direction," he said.

                        "Or [you could say]: This was never about guns. It was about its stark originality. Maybe we can back away from some of those [older] things? and emphasize the smooth play and puzzles and move it toward, if you will, a Portal."

                        EA confirmed that a sequel was in the works earlier this year, saying that a small team was on it and that it was just a "matter of time" before it arrived. At the moment, they're working on a spinoff for the iPhone, which due in the App Store next January.

                          So if they go into the straight FPS direction, i'm not buying at all. It wasn't about shooting guns at all.

                            The only thing I liked about the demo was being intuitive on the rooftops during time trials. Or it didn't even have to be a time trial... just solving the puzzle on how to get to the other side was how I liked this game. The free-running aspect was awesome. I didn't need (or really want) any guns.

                            I sure hope they don't focus too much on guns.

                              Dreams of a sequel have yet to be destroyed.

                              The chances of a Mirror's Edge sequel have been significantly increased, after DICE producer Patrick Liu told SPOnG that any such project would "reach a broader audience."

                              A continuation of the minimalist first-person platformer was reported to be in development up until February 2011, when it was claimed EA had rejected a prototype for a sequel. It's also no secret that Mirror's Edge, whilst wowing critics, did not meet sales expectations.

                              In an interview with SPOnG, Liu said that development of a sequel would not be a waste of time. When asked if the games market would be receptive to a Mirror's Edge 2, he said, "Yeah, definitely. I think it’s something that people are ready to get into again.

                              "We see that there’s a huge fan following, it’s almost like a cult! And we know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we’d know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there’s a market there."

                              Earlier this year, EA Games president Frank Gibeau said that Mirror's Edge is still important to the publisher, but merely spoke hypothetically about a sequel, leading to conclusion-jumping over any actual development. Liu's comments are the first from DICE that plans for a sequel haven't yet been dashed.
                              I was hoping to get some definitive news, but at least this is better than nothing. Mirror's Edge was one of the more enjoyable games I played this gen. I really hope we get a sequel because I'm ready to jump over rooftops again.

                                Keeping my fingers crossed. One of the better games this generation.
