Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)

I'm trying hard not to get spoilers, but I have a question....

I loved Condemned...it got repetitive, but I thought it had absolutely fantastic atmosphere and some very good scares.

This sounds more immersive than that, and like it might even have enough replayability to justify purchasing (rather than renting since it is just single player)...anyone who has played both, thoughts?

Yes, I also own Condemned and really loved the atmosphere in that game, but like you said, it did get repetitive after a while. Doesn't look like Bioshock will fall into that category. Just combat-wise you have so many options that it always stays fresh. And the story draws you in far more than Condemned.

Sigh....I hope Circuit City still has this in stock at $49.99....I really want to play this game.

This game makes playing Condemned feel like playing Super Mario Bros. or something. It's a huge leap over it and I liked Condemned, too (still own it and will probably play through it again sometime).

Playing on hard, I got to the Neptune place last night. Got my butt handed to me by daddies. I'm trying to go through without using the vita chambers and I was trying to save the sisters, I think I may have to give up on that. Those BDs are just too hard on hard for me.

I'm doing ok so far w/o using vita chambers, but it's rough. Some BD are tougher than others, I find I just have to figure out a good strategy and i can survive.

One question, there was a Little Sister with a Big Daddy, I killed the Big Daddy but cannot find the Little Sister. Guess she went inside that hole. Do I just come back to area later or how do I get her to come out?

EDIT: Never mind, I got it.
Would you mind PM'ing me with that info? I killed a Big Daddy last night when I got to Neptune's Landing and don't remember seeing the Little Sister.

How are you beating the first BD in Neptune on hard? The one in the wharf area with the 2 mini guns at each end? I hack the mini guns and use rage on anyone that runs in, but the BD rips through them and blows up the guns in no time barely knocking even 1/4 of his health off. Fire and shock don't do much damage. I guess I just need better rounds? Using the tommy gun on him, it seems like I would need 300+ regular rounds to take him down. I did find the grenade launcher a little later in the level, but even that doesn't do much damage on hard.

I've noticed that occasionally there are BD without a Little Sister, so it's possible you killed one of those? I just leave them alone unless they're clearly escorting a Little Sister (who can hear talking to the BD usually before you see them).

Condemned got repetitive to me as well. So far this game has been the opposite. I haven't been this immersed in a game since the first Halo came out. It's taking me forever to get through because I search every corner of every room. I'm not normally one to do that.
