Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I played last night until I got to the 2nd disc. I think one of the last cases was the red lipstick murder. While overall I like this game because of the cases, interrorgations, and story, I actually don't think it is a very good game.
You get a case, drive to the scene, bumble around until you get audio or rumble cues that you are near clues (I'm thinking I'll start over with the cues turned off to see if I like it better or worse), then you go interview some one (which I like), then you possibly repeat the go and bumble for clues + interview, then you go to the chase scene. Then repeat for the next case. The only time I feel like I'm really solving anything is when I can catch people in lies.
I'd like to have an option after a case is over to go drive around before I'm given the next case. I know I could just drive around anyways before heading to the scene of the next crime, but I feel like I need to go to the murder scene asap most of the time. I'd also have liked to see some newspaper stories on how previous cases ended up. Did the person get convicted? Did they get off? Maybe if you get your murderer but you didn't have the strongest of evidence, you read about how their lawyer got them off or about a hung jury or something to provide some closure.
That may make it seem like I think I wasted my money, but even with all that, the cases and characters sucked me in mostly because I like playing detective. I'll probably play through it a few times, but I think the gameplay itself outside of interviews is not that good. I just want to go back and see if I can read people better.
My only beef with interviewing, often times I know someone is lying, have evidence they are lying, but when I pick lying, Phelps accusing them on something I wasn't expecting where I might not have direct evidence or I might have two or three things that could expose their lie indirectly, but I'm not sure which to pick and whatever I do pick doesn't work.
Overall I'm happy I bought it, I just wish the gameplay itself was more varied and had better mechanics (mostly gun play/fighting and finding clues).Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
after getting only about an hour in last night, wish I could have played more, I had somethings to take care of. Anyway, this game is just awesome and a fresh of breath air. Yes We had Read Dead, GTA, but this truly feels like a Movie. I'm still in Awe every second I play from the facial animations, the best I EVER seen in a game.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 05-18-2011, 09:43 AM.N.Y Mets

It was actually one of the most coherent posts he's ever made.
