Totally agree. There is a huge population of people out there that don't play multiplayer games. From my experiences, multiplayer gaming, particularly for FPS games, has given the developers an out on making fufilling single player experience.

5 hours of single player content for some of these shooters keeps me from buying them.

Who said they are getting rid of this because of mp? There are plenty games with satisfying single campaigns with decent MP. (not that I think LA Noire needed mp)

Edit: OK I'll give you the first part, but using FPS to condemn gaming as stunted or stuck in the mud in terms of innovation is a missfire imo.

Thwy wouldn't make MP if that wasn't what sold games, and what the majority of people wanted, which in the case for FPS, is the case. I agree I hate FPS single player campaigns, the last FPS that had good SP was MOH for me, and that was a first in a long time since early Ghost Recon days.

But the fact that people think MP=crap Sp, is dumb. RDR had an excellent SP and MP experience. As did Assassins Creed. In fact, I would have only rented that game if MP wasn't available. It was different and did some great stuff. LA Noire could do something totally different with a cops and robbers type feel.

I would love to see multiplayer in this game. GTA IV and RDR are both examples that games can have good MP and still have just as good, if not better SP experiences. I love GTA IV and RDR and play both to this day, mostly multiplayer now, and they are both in my top 10, maybe top 5 favorite games of all time.

I really wish they would have gone a similar route as the other two games with multiplayer in this. A free roam where you could do what you wanted, then some competitive modes. Something like Cops and Crooks in GTA IV, then some scripted mode. Have one team play out the cops while another team plays out bank robbers. The cops must stop all the robbers, while the robbers try and escape to the airport or some location on the map.

Just take some random street crimes and twist them into a competitive type match and multiplayer could be done.

Both Valve and EA have stated that almost all of their titles going forward in various genres will have some kind of multiplayer aspect in them, which takes time and/or money away from other parts of those games.

Case in point. If MP wasn't in those games, the replay value would be extremely low. I would literally rent every SP game that I wanted to play if it didn't have MP. That's a lot of lost money for developers.

I feel that COD's success has cast a bad cloud over gaming and now all of a sudden all great SP experiences will suffer because titan MP games will take over the landscape. Thats simply not true. LA Noire's numbers havent come out but Im sure they will be stellar. If a team releases a 5 star product it will reap the rewards. LA Noire is a 5 star title in my eyes and a sequel was already green-lit if im not mistaken. There is no need to be afraid that games like this cant make it when it has the right support behind it.

I never said that games like this can't make it, I said that the belief that games need to had multiplayer or they aren't worth buying is holding the industry back. Studios are already starting to put an emphasis on multiplayer components and developers know that most of the games they make have to have multiplayer or else a lot of people will see them as just rentals. That attitude makes absolutely no sense to me and I don't want to see the industry suffer because people have to have their deathmatch mode in a game that has no use for it.

Just curious have any of you completed the game at 100%. I am at 97% and I just need to find 17 more cars. But I am actually kind of tired of the game and I may or may not get the 100%. I did it in Red Dead and Undead Nightmare. But having to play over some of the missions again seem a bit too much. So do you have to replay the missions to get some of the cars. Or is there a quicker way to get the cars. Advice please!

Some cars are easier to find in a mission. Good luck with 100%. It was tedious as hell finding those last cars.

That is a good deal. You basically pay $2 for all of the pre-order bonuses, including the two pre-order cases, because the next 2 cases are priced at $4 each.

Bought the Rockstar pass. The four cases separately would have been $16 so it was a good deal, plus I used my $15 and $5 Amazon credits that I got from purchasing LA Noire to get a 1600 MS point code for free. So it all worked out nicely.

The in-game marketplace is pretty slick to. Tells you what you own and what is actually installed on your xbox.
