NCAA 08 is the only one I've bought in 2007 so far that I felt that way about, so I guess I'm fishing for suggestions here too.

This is a companion thread to bigeastbumrush's Most Dissapointing Game Purchase thread. I'd like to know what everyone felt was their best purchases, what games did you buy and say to yourself, "That was next-gen" or "that was worth playing".

Dead Rising. There's just something about that game that makes me happy. I loved the gameplay, loved the scenery, loved how the story was done.
Oh wait, that didnt' come out in 07 did it?

In no particular order
Oblivion
GH2
Rainbow Six
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Crackdown(rented it, but what a great two weeks of blowing stuff up!)
NBA 2k8 is not on the list, only because my Xbox died before I got to my season, so I can't put it up there yet. It was the only game I was playing when the box died though.Comment

Re: 2007 Most Satisfying Next-Gen Game Purchase
I agree. This game had a satisfying simple control scheme. The game had an ebb and flow to it in a weird way. I think the best thing about it was how there was so much to do in the mall you never felt bored. The CPU sprites would interact with the environment in very subtle ways during the Missions. It was exciting to navigate through the missions, all while avoiding clusters of zombies. It was cool because you just have to pick a lane where there are less zombies and only engage in battle with 1 or 2 zombies at a time. the control was good, the cutscenes were cool and never felt boring. i wish more games utilized a level design like that.Comment
