Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Knowing the maps is the most important thing, it's good to walk around in them by yourself so that they start to make 'sense' to you.
Then you start to see very common player tendencies that you can exploit. Also if you have a buddy that has the game, you can have a player match w/ just him and talk about simple strategies, i did that for my friend and he's now 1.29 k/d ratio up from 0.65
Anyway I never thought I'd have a game with this much legs, but I still player this online a couple of times every week. I now have over 13,000 kills!
My advice would be to stick with the m16 (unless on the close quarters maps) until you can create your own classes.
another tip would be to try following (like right on their arse) one or two good players on your team, just to see where they are rushing to, and where they are shooting, so that you get a feel of where to expect enemies.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Also set-ups I use all 5, but 2 are sniper-related, one's overkill for certain maps. But I have the Shotty setup for the boat one, and the one that's mostly in that old building w/ tight hallways (amazing i don't know the names of half the maps)
I also have a silencer setup for assualt rifles w/ uav jammer and dead silence, and a m60 setup w/ juggernaught and 3 frag that I only use on a couple of maps including broadcast, but it kicks arse.
I'm now plus 13k kills plus 9k deaths = 1.41 k/d ratio and over 20% accuracy.
The game is amazing, there's nothing like have a great game like over 20 kills and under 6 or 7 deaths, the tight controls and visuals just make it kick total arse.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Sad day for me this week, I'm getting rid of COD4 tomorrow. With Battlefield Bad Company, I see no way I go back to COD4 again. With COD5 on the horizon, I'm doubting new maps either.
I'll miss ya COD4Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Wow, Battlefield over COD4, hmm? I see how missing vibration will be a big thing for me (on the PS3), but to me COD4 is just a much better game. I guess I'm still waiting to see whether to wait for COD5 or just get COD4.

360 of course.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
I suppose. I think I just have too much fun with COD4 is all. I like different games for different reasons, and for me, when it comes to team strategy, I look no where else but SOCOM.
I have to admit that I only played the Battlefield demo, but it was more than one thing that turns me off vs COD4 (admittedly, lack of 60 FPS is one of them).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
I've thought about putting CoD4 up on half.com recently, but I haven't gotten up the courage to do it. Rationally I don't see myself playing it much, if any, with the great line-up of games coming out the rest of the year - not to mention school and work.

That's why I'm ditching it. I haven't touched it in awhile, there's a ton of great games coming this fall, so might as well get some money for it while I can.Comment

I don't blame you guys. I'm making 1 final run through the game right now and going to sell it, it's still going for $25 at Gamestop and around $40 on ebay.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Ok, so apparently the guy Im supposed to follow is a complete ****ing idiot. Im on the mission where you are basically stealth throughout, its called All Ghilled Up, and Im at the point where Im supposed to crawl through the field and avoid detection by the guards and the tank thats is coming towards me in the field. I stick right on his backside, when he stops I stop, after the guys on the left pass first I slowly move to the left and yet the guy Im following constantly gets caught because he doesnt move and the guy on the right walks right into him. Ive tried staying behind him the entire time but the guy on the right walks into us, Ive tried moving left but the guy Im following isnt smart enough to do that so they walk into him still, what gives? Ive looked everywhere on the internet for suggestions and followed the ones Ive found but they still havent worked, any suggestions here by chance?
EDIT- Nevermind, the very next try suddenly the guards didnt walk into him this time, strange because they werent walking into me since I was on the left where the guards were already passed me, ohh well.Last edited by The Chef; 07-08-2008, 11:02 PM.Comment
