Just a little to early to tell on that one, might want to wait until its released. Haha.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Bioshock had the story the gameplay the graphics and longevity(20 plus hr game)

So far NO game has beaten it.

Mass effect will be the only other competitor

Bioshock was really really good, however the level of diffculty wasnt there for me. COD4 is the first next gen game I have played where my jaw has been on the floor for 2 weeks.

Its absolutely incredible when you get 18 ppl on a map, with a HD TV and surround sound.

Ditto, minus the surround sound. Kinda poor.

That's my problem though. GoTY shouldn't mean best multiplayer.

Granted coD4 might be awesome but it's single player campaign is boring and short.

Agree with everything you said, with serious caveats that I have not played CoD4 (not a huge multiplayer fan) or Assassin's Creed (yet). I am probably going to be picking up Uncharted this week and Mass Effect and College Hoops next week. Good Lord, my wallet.

Can we all agree that this month has been one of the greatest months for new releases in the history of gaming? I've been around since the Pong games and this month has been nothing short of incredible.

But multiplayer is a part of the game...so if its such an important aspect of it should it override a great single player game (alteast focused towards single player).

I think COD should win best online game but for me while it's extremely fun online is rather shallow offline.

I have to say Bioshock is a better all-around game.

Are we having a sports game of the year section? I think only a handful would even be in contention.

NHL 08, FIFA 08, The Show, F1 (can't remember if it came out this year). Thinking about a game with as much contect and quality as COD or Bioshock comparatively is depressing.

Here's my game of the year. PORTALS in the Orange Box.

I'd add MLB: The Show for PS3 to your list.

Bioshock. No other game has affected me physically like This...sweaty, shaking hands...chills that go straight through your spine...this game was the definition of immersive and compelling, with innovative gameplay and a great story. Unless Mass Effect is off the charts, it's Bioshock for me. COD4 is a close second, with Crackdown as my #3.

Haven't played a few of the other heavy hitters like Orange Box, GHIII, or AC (yet) but I can't see any of those surpassing BIO. 2K8, Skate and PGR4 get some love too. It's been a bananas year for gaming.

Would you believe that (so far) I am unimpressed with The Orange Box? I played Half-Life on the PC back in the day and loved it. I am probably about 3-4 hours into Half Life 2 and so far I am underwhelmed. This may be because I had to decide between The Orange Box and CoD4, and went with TOB; maybe I am thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

I know there is a heck of a lot more to TOB than just the first few hours of Half Life 2. But I was not greatly compelled to come back to it. Just goes to show that everybody's taste is different, I guess.

BTW, I have been really digging Lego Star Wars...
It's fun, simple and you can just pick up and play anytime. Maybe I should be spending that time with TOB. Yet it's Lego Star Wars that keeps calling me back. And I am not a huge fan of the Star Wars movies at all.
