Re: Deus EX 3 Announced
"It didn't have so much as disdainful remark when I used Jensen's super strength to block all the doorways with vending machines, thereby surviving a waiting-for-the-elevator standoff without firing a single bullet.""Human Revolution has too much integrity and subtlety to put a giant DANGER arrow over a hostile area. If you see gun-toting guards marching about, you should know to approach with a lower profile. Beyond some isolated, plot-specific locations, there are no demarcated levels and no sections that go "Shush!" when it's time for stealth.""You are a persistently bemused buffoon. Most games won't convey that opinion so indelicately, instead hiding it between the lines of text that ceaselessly tell you where to go, what to do and exactly how to do it. Deus Ex: Human Revolution isn't exempt from the clumsy tutorial crowd, but once it gets through the jarring video pop-ups, it quickly stops treating you like an imbecilic waypoint-marker addict. This game thinks you're an adult and expects you to handle your ****."Go Noles!!! >>-----> -

Re: Deus EX 3 Announced
I got my review copy Friday and have put in about 10-12 hours so far. Words simply can't do this game justice. The amount of freedom you have is overwhelming at times.
I think it's safe to say no two people will have the same experience with Deus Ex because there are so many ways to approach every encounter or obstacle that stand in your way. I wasted a lot of time just wandering through Detroit looking for different paths and seeing the different ways I could get from Point A to Point B.
Stealth is always my first option, but it was oh so rewarding the first time I actually talked my way into a location I needed access to. The gunplay is solid if you prefer the aggressive approach, but Jensen is no super soldier and will go down quickly if you don't utilize cover.
The gradual way in which the game doles out the XP needed to purchase upgrades for your character had me agonizing over which augments to buy. Having fallen to my death countless times, though, I can recommend making the aug that allows you to fall from any height without taking damage an early purchase.
The enemy AI is sharp, though not flawless. Perhaps the best thing I can say about it is that it was fair -- I never got spotted when I felt I was out of sight, and I was punished for being overly aggressive or sloppy in my sneakiness.
My fear is that the average gamer will take a shizz on Deus Ex because it doesn't feel like CoD or Halo and requires you to use some actual logic and thought to play. Personally that's what I love about this game, but I'm afraid kids today might not "get it." It will be a shame if this doesn't do huge numbers because the developers at Eidos deserve it after the work they put into making Deus Ex such an engrossing experience.
I had all but conceded Game of the Year to Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, but now I'm not so sure. Deus Ex has definitely raised the bar as far as I'm concerned.Comment

I agree with about the possibility of some gamers not getting into the game or bashing it because it has such a different feel compared to other games and just isn't mindless shooting. Hopefully it sells well enough, so that we will see more of these type of games. I am huge fan of games like this.My Teams

Re: Deus EX 3 Announced
And locations genuinely do have multiple routes through them. It’s often hard to appreciate quite how much choice you had until you accidentally stumble on something later. For instance, if you find your way into a building by avoiding bribing the person at the entrance, and instead climbing carefully stacked crates and bins to reach an open duct, then crawl your way in through the tunnels to a cleaning supplies closet, you might later on take a wrong turning and find yourself on the roof. A roof you’ll realise has a ladder leading to a gap where you could jump to a nearby residential building, which you could have hacked your way into and climbed within.
And this studio is working on Thief 4.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Announced
I can't speak for the PS3 version, but it looks and runs great on Xbox 360. I installed the game to my HD before I started and noticed only very occasional slowdown and absolutely no texture pop-in at all. The control scheme took some getting used to on the 360 controller -- i.e. clicking in on the right stick to aim down the sights -- but I imagine the quirks will be the same on PS3, too.Comment

The trigger is mapped to toggle between 3rd and first person view for cover which must be held down to activate so not sure that can be switched easily.XBL: Countach

Loving everything I've heard so far.. Definitely picking this up sometime this week..
Loved the first game, and after reading all the reviews so far, this one sounds amazing..
Without having played it, my only complaint is not being able to customize your character from the beginning.. Granted, the original Deus Ex only let you change skin color and hair, I'm kinda bummed we have no options at all this go around..::Comment
