        Wow, beautiful

I love the art direction of this game. The RPGs just keep coming- if you're a fan of RPGs, no system is better right now than the 360. Kudos to Microsoft for their commitment to this genre.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Wired: Hands-On: Tales of Vesperia Does Cel-Shading Right

TOKYO -- Following the official presentation portion of Microsoft's RPG event today, we were invited to the gallery space's second floor to try out Namco Bandai's Tales of Vesperia.

First of all, it needs to be said just how good this game looks.

We've seen plenty of cel-shading that attempts to replicate the look of anime in the past, but this time it really looks like they've succeeded. Both the cut scenes and gameplay really do come off as anime, with a 3D perspective that really works well.

As far as the demo, it starts off with a bit of dialogue as you encounter a blockade in the road, which ended with you heading out in the forest and taking control of the character. It doesn't take long before you hit your first battle, with plenty of roaming creatures waiting to get at you.

Combat was a blast, and quite hectic, although I never really felt like I was in danger of dying -- unlike the presentation demo, in which the game's producer was constantly having to heal his character with items. The last two RPGs I've played fully were Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, and I'll say that combat here is much more fun. The B button is your basic attack, which in this case, with rather weak creatures, was usually enough. The A button is used for special attacks, and drains your TP bar. The action pauses when you access your items with the Y button.

I didn't get to experience any special skills, and it's possible that additional special attacks could have been achieved if I knew the correct button combinations. This short taste does leaves wanting to give the full game a try though, once it comes out at the end of summer.

It was announced during the event that a demo for the game will be released sometime in June through Xbox Live, so you should get a chance to try the game for yourself soon enough.

Tales of Vesperia hits stores on August 7th in Japan, August in the U.S., and 2009 in Europe.

I believe so... namco did promise a demo by the end of June

The game is nice though... immediately reminds me of Eternal Sonata.. but I like these fighting mechanics better... u target who you want to fight with the bumper (can't remember which)... then use B for regular attack combo's... and A for power combos... u can even link them up by doin a regular combo then a power combo immediately after... there's no waiting time between attacking... I believe you can do the hadoken motion and press A to throw a blue fireball.

Graphics don't look too sharp, but of course its only a 200mb demo. It does look like Eternal Sonata. No rotatable camera, just like ES, that really annoys me. You get these nice graphcs and can't look around. Combat like genecyst said is better, it's all real time plus you put the attacks together like you would a fighter. I don't know if you can switch between characters though, if you can, I haven't figured it out. If you can't, that lessens my desire for the game. I am kind of undecided on whether or not I will get it or not.

Definitely looks like a Tales game.

If it's like the other Tales game, going to character menu, and put the character you want to use in the first slot.
