"Shiny" lets them off of the hook, because it implies a superficial layer. This game doesn't just have unpolished graphics, it has bad art direction. I hate to call out an art team and throw them under the bus, but this is bad art direction. Seeing art direction like this in a game always makes me smile a little bit.

Maybe you should become a video game art director. You already get those freebie games so it shouldn't be hard to make a career switch.

I'm all about spy movies, so the theme is very enticing. But everything leading up to the release has me less and less interested in making a purchase.

Another Spanish game magazine has come out and reviewed the game. Here is a basic summary.

* Graphics -> 80 - The exteriors are not so bad but the models and their animations are far from perfect.

* Sound -> 90 - Appropriate soundtrack.

* Diversity -> 89 - Even though it's the same game, there are many possibilities when it comes to customizing your character and deciding how to play.

* Duration -> 90 - The replayability factor is really high. You can play Alpha Protocol a lot of times without experiencing the same adventure.

* Overall -> 88 - A spy role playing game that succeeds in blending action with stealth and gives players a high degree of freedom in choosing how they want to proceed.

The Best parts of Alpha Protocol -> The freedom to choose how you want to acoplish your objectives and a great decision making system.
The Worst parts of Alpha Protocol -> Outdated graphics and basic AI.

I might be doing my first official game project soon. It'll be small, but it's a side gig and hopefully it'll pay well. After another year or two in comics, I'm going to switch over to games for a little bit.

You would think that with all that extra time they would've improved the graphics and animations. It has been 7 months since it was supposed to come out and it seems like they just put it on a shelf somewhere and moved on to another game.

Rental for sure, though I think thats exactly what they did, they put it on the shelf and worked on New Vegas rather than polish AP. Shame too because I was looking forward to it, but every trailer so far especially the last few the closer we get to the release just scream out lack of polish which seems to be a staple for Obsidian titles.

I always kinda considered Black Isle to be Bioware's B team back in the Interplay days even though BI was essentially Interplay's in house studio and now Obsidian seems to be the same thing, funny when you consider how many ex Black Isle guys are now there.

Since this is the next game release I've been anticipating I've been searching all over the net for opinions and information on this game and I've reached the following conclusions.

- The graphics on this game are dated, but in all honesty they don't look any worse than the graphics in ME1 and/or Dragon Age on consoles.

- The Animations would probably be better if this was designed to be either completely a shooter or a stealth action game. Being as its an RPG with those as gameplay elements I can accept them not being on the same level.

- As for the preview above, this is easily the worse preview for the game out there. The reviewers showed absolutely little professionalism in their presentation of the game. Why make the character look ridiculous and then make cheeky comments about it? The guy also seemed to have played like a fool on purpose, he made a character to fit one description and then tried a playthrough that didn't fit his character. This makes the shooting mechanics and gameplay look bad. This is almost like trying to use a sniper rifle in ME1 and not having any skill in it... of course it's not going to work as well.

I know some of y'all have been turned off to the game but from what I've been hearing and seeing I think it will be a good esp. with the "choose your own adventure" branching plot lines.

I think Mass Effect looks much better than this game but even if you want to make that comparison, the first Mass Effect came out 3 years ago.

I don't really care about the graphics, but on that point I did also mention DA:O.

Gamespot review (6.0) was up for a short period of time, then pulled due to the review embargo.

Alpha Protocol's astounding intricacies are tarnished by bugs, clumsy gameplay mechanics, and rough production values.

Yeah theres quite a few reviews for this game out and they range to be all over the place. I'm going to bet this is a love it/hate it type of game.

I did thoroughly enjoy KOTOR II (in fact, never played the first KOTOR).
