Go to the "Save Game Data" on the XMB and delete your Socom save. It was made BEFORE the 1.1 download. Delete that save and when you log in the next time it will make a new profile. THAT will work.


THEN YOU'LL GET A FREAKING NETWORK INITIALIZATION FAILED MESSAGE THAT WILL PISS YOU OFF.

So is the best way to go to just keep trying to connect and hang out on the boards? Or should I give up and put in another game?

One, I want to check this game out and two, I want to try out the new headset. (I really need some games for PS3 that are good for multiplayer)

OK, guys help me out here. I am considering getting this game but would like a little more information before taking the plunge.

I enjoy multi-player games like the COD series. I absolutely hated the mutl-player of Metal Gear Solid 4 and did not care for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon either. Is this game like any of those? I am not a "run and gun" type of player (brain to finger impulses have slowed a bit) but not a complete camper either. I like to use strategy.

I don't have a mic. If I decide to get it should I download it or get a retail copy, or are there any differences other than the download / copy to hard drive files?

At any rate I'll probably hold off until they iron out the server issues.

I trust you guys more than website reviews! Thanks.

I have never played COD, or any other online shooter, so I cant help you there. I can say that this is no run and gun game (it can be, but its not as fun). To suceed you really need to use teamwork. It takes a lot of strategy and its a lot of fun to play IMO.

If you dont have a mic I would definetly buy the bundle. The mic by its self is 49.99, while the bunlde is 59.99, so its a great value if you need a mic (and communication is key to SOCOM).

right now I am loving the gameplay, but its hard to get on with the servers. If you like online, teambased, strategy games then I think you will really enjoy this game.

If you like COD4, you should like this game too. COD4 is my favorite. This game may top that.

If you like COD4, you should like this game too. COD4 is my favorite. This game may top that.

Wow! That being the case I will pick this game up. Hopefully I can find the mic bundle and they can get the servers fixed.

We had a OC room going last night. But, I couldn't get on. Everytime I got in the OC lobby and "green up" I got booted. Anyway, for the games that I did play it's been a blast. COD4 is so much of a run n gun type game (though you can play with more strategy when playing with friends) that I couldn't get into it. This game is more strategy, I liked talking to others on my team that weren't friends. I cant wait for them to get the servers in order.

Guys, I have had this game for 2 days and have never got into one game. Every time i go to join it says "request to join server timed out". Anyone else has this? This is stupid to have a game not work at all for 2 straight days.

ok guys I will be making the new SOCOM CLAN SHORTLY. It will be the French GIGN with the Famas gun. If the clan system works I will invite everyone again. Lets hope the server issues get fixed soon. Game is fun to play.
