Ok, I picked up my copy (360) this morning and played for about an hour or so. Some quick impressions from someone who's not a HUGE GTA fan.....
I'm not amazed by the graphics...it looks good, but my jaw didn't drop. There's nothing really revolutionary as far as I can tell. I'm sure others with a more discerning eye will say different.
Cars are hard to drive! I've only driven the car you start out with and a few I've stolen, but they definitely have some "weight" to them. One annoying thing is it's hard to see around corners when driving. When taking a turn you are basically blind to traffic. You can move the camera of course with the right stick, but it would've been nice if there was some sort of "head turn" movement from the camera.
Voice acting is really good, that was something that stuck out right from the start.
Load times didn't seem like an issue. The game loads when starting a new mission/story (like 45-60 secs), but there's no loading when driving around or entering buildings, etc. When you first pop the game in tho it does load for what seemed 3 mins or so.
While I didn't notice any issues with the scenery popping up when driving around, I did notice that there seems to be "pockets" of activity. There'll be lots of cars and pedestrians and then for a few blocks it seems empty. This might be just because I was driving really fast from one point to another and the game wasn't keeping up.
Not much else. I played for a bit and figured I'd post something quick. It feels like GTA tho, there's no doubt about that. I'm sure that anyone who can't wait for this game will not be disappointed at all. Is it a 10/10, dunno...haven't gotten into it yet, but as someone's who isn't a huge fan of the genre, I'd have to say it's pretty close.
