The Wii has HD cables? Did not know that...

Mario Kart took up the whole screen, but Mario Party 8 does not.

Carnival games is just ok in my estimation. There are really only a handful of game that are even remotely fun. The majority of the games are just meh. I was really excited about this game initially, but it wore off quickly. I think this game could have been much better if it allowed for the use of your Miis.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I didn't like the Sonic Olympic game at all. Now, I've heard from others they love it, but I guess it just didn't keep mine or my son's attention very long.

Big Brain Academy is great for a 5-6 year old if played on "easy". They'll find quite a bit of enjoyment with it for a week or two. After that, it'll get shelved as there's only so many practices and tests you can take until you bore of it.

I'm finding that taking out a game pass for Wii games is the best investment I've made. Many of these games are great for a day or two, but just don't have a whole lot of replay value.

Kev, you have SSX Blur, right? How is it? They have it at Costco for $15.99. I seem to recall you saying it was a good game. For that price I may give it a try. Is it fun like the older SSX games (SSX3 being my favorite) but with some motion controls?

On another note, anyone download the Wii Channel yet? It has DS demos. Pretty cool.

And on one more note, is anyone else thinking about getting Wii Fit? I'm trying to find something to get my daughter interested in exercise. We got a treadmill and she'll use it sometimes, but not often. From looking at the hype video, she seems to be interested in Wii Fit.

yeah I really liked SSX Blur. I played it a long time. There are some parts of it that I wish they'd worked more on, like there is no lodge to board into and change your gear meaning you have to back all the way out of the game to change your board or character. Also the multiplayer mode of the game sucks big time. But... playing it single player is great. It's the same slopes as the previous SSX game but they updated them a little. Boarding with the wiimote/nunchuck combo is fun and doing the special tricks by drawing designs on the screen is challenging. I thought the game had a pretty steep learning curve when it came to drawing the special tricks, but once it clicks it is fun. But just going down the slopes is really intuitive and fun. You can spend a long time on the game too if you want to unlock everything. I think there are maybe 5 different event types (race, slopestyle, slalom, big air, half-pipe) on 3 different levels of the slopes with each level increasing in difficulty. Definitely worth $16 IMO.

The motion controls are basically tilt the nunchuck to carve down the slopes, although I changed that option to the control stick on the nunchuck because it made slaloms easier. Then to do flips or spins, you flick the wiimote up or down for flips or left or right for spins. The uber moves (special tricks) are done by pressing and holding A while you have big air (and your uber meter built up) and drawing one of your unlocked uber moves on the screen. They show a uber move on the screen when you can draw one, but you don't have to do that trick, you can draw any that you have unlocked.

Dang, now I want to play some more! I hope they come out with another one on the Wii in the future.

Ok, thanks! I know they're coming out with Wii Ski, but it would be cool for the balance board to work with something like SSX.

My wife is very intrigued by Wii Fit (as am I), but we just don't know if we're going to have the room in our gaming room for it. The room is more wide than long, and it'd be tough to face the TV while doing push-ups or the like.

Same with us. If we get it, we'll have to move the coffee table every time. I was watching the video for We Ski. That looks like a lot of fun. I'm still trying to get a feel for how much my daughter will like Wii Fit.

I had been thinking about getting another console, but I really think I'm going to stick with just the Wii. I've been having fun with a lot of my games lately and I'm picking up Mario Kart tonight. I was looking at the new releases list and it seems like there are a bunch of good games coming out in the not-so-distant future. My daughter and I were having a blast downloading all the DS demos from the new Wii channel.

Deca Sports doesn't look too bad at all.

                      Curling actually looks awesome IMO.

Boom Blox is an absolute blast, no pun intended! My six year son loves it as do I. Single player is fun and challenging, and the multi-player is fantastic. I urge everyone to at least rent it. It's right at or near the top of my favorite Wii games.
