I want the balance board for We Ski and probably Skate It. I might end up getting Wii Fit for those two games, but I just don't want to spend $90 plus $30 for We Ski.

I can't wait to step on the scale and have the thing tell me I'm obese at 6'8" 225 according to BMI.

I like a lot of the ideas with this, but BMI is not a good measuring tool.

Ditto. My carpet is somewhat "shaggy" so my only concern will be if it throws off the balance. Wel, that and how much Mario Kart time the wife will take away from me.

I like a lot of the ideas with this, but BMI is not a good measuring tool.

I've talked about BMI with others on this board. For individuals, it may not be the best measure. But as a screening tool for the population, it is effective. There is an overwhelming amount of research that shows that, in general, having a higher BMI puts you at risk for future health problems. BMI is also quick and simple. The better measure for an individual is body fat %, but it takes more time and effort go get an accurate measure. BMI is a screening tool, it predicts risk factors, but it can't predict anything.

And for the record, your BMI is 24.7, which is still in the "healthy" range.

BMI is also notoriously off for tall people or people with a lot of muscle. Every NFL linebacker who's 6'3" 250 lbs with 4% body fat is considered unhealthy by BMI standards.

The last time I checked, which was about two years ago, to be at my ideal BMI I'm suppose to weight 185 lbs. Sorry, but that's damn near Somalian for someone who's 6'8".

lol... I feel your pain. I've had Zelda for a few months now, and STILL haven't gotten more than 2 hours playing time on it thanks to my wife's love of Lego: Star Wars.

Oh well. At least she likes video games now!

Here is the BMI check tool from the Department of Health and Human Services:

If you put in 6'8" and 225, you will see that your BMI is 24.7. A "normal" BMI is anything between 18.5-24.9, so you are perfectly normal on this scale.

If you did weigh 185, your BMI would be 20.3, which is also in the normal range.

To me, this makes sense. If you are 6'8", your ideal weight should be somewhere in between 180-225. If you hit 230, then you should start paying attention to your weight, as you are starting to reach "overweight."

I am in the same position as you with respect to BMI. I am 6'1/185, which means that I have a BMI of 24.4. I have gained weight slowly over the years, and I have a little belly growing. When I hit 190, I will be in the "overweight" range, which means that I should pay attention to my weight.

As such, I can't wait to pick up Wii Fit in an hour. It is going to be great having a fitness tool that is intertwined with a Wii Sports-like video game. I have been looking forward to this ever since it was first shown at Nintendo's press conference at E3 last year.

Agreed... i'm 5'7'' and 162lbs with around 10%-12% body fat. According to BMI I am overweight (barely) which is hilarious since I can still see my abs! Anyone who lifts weights seriously can just throw BMI right out the window.

The ironic thing is I work with a guy who is 5'8'' and 160lbs, but he has NO muscle, skinny girl arms and a nice little gut... yet he's the healthy one according to this!
