Agreed... i'm 5'7'' and 162lbs with around 10%-12% body fat. According to BMI I am overweight (barely) which is hilarious since I can still see my abs! Anyone who lifts weights seriously can just throw BMI right out the window.

The ironic thing is I work with a guy who is 5'8'' and 160lbs, but he has NO muscle, skinny girl arms and a nice little gut... yet he's the healthy one according to this!

Couldn't have said a better example myself! I can see the top 4-pack of my abs at 225, lift three days a week, play basketball four days a week and run 3-miles once a week - but I'm on the edge of being overweight, rrrrrrrright.

The bottom line is that BMI is Body Mass Index, there is no way this formula can differentiate what the "mass" is, fat or muscle.

Here is the BMI check tool from the Department of Health and Human Services:

If you put in 6'8" and 225, you will see that your BMI is 24.7. A "normal" BMI is anything between 18.5-24.9, so you are perfectly normal on this scale.

If you did weigh 185, your BMI would be 20.3, which is also in the normal range.

To me, this makes sense. If you are 6'8", your ideal weight should be somewhere in between 180-225. If you hit 230, then you should start paying attention to your weight, as you are starting to reach "overweight."

I am in the same position as you with respect to BMI. I am 6'1/185, which means that I have a BMI of 24.4. I have gained weight slowly over the years, and I have a little belly growing. When I hit 190, I will be in the "overweight" range, which means that I should pay attention to my weight.

As such, I can't wait to pick up Wii Fit in an hour. It is going to be great having a fitness tool that is intertwined with a Wii Sports-like video game. I have been looking forward to this ever since it was first shown at Nintendo's press conference at E3 last year.

I will say that I'm 6'2 and 183.5 lbs (i weighed myself last night, hence the accuracy)...I can't see adding 6 inches of height and remaining this weight. Sure, my stomach isn't perfect and I have a minor bit of fat, but I'm in no way ripped muscularly at this weight, and it wouldn't be healthy to grow to 6'8 without gaining weight. It'd be like Skeletor or Tayshaun Prince! I'm sure it's technically healthy, but if you were to see a dude at 6'8 185 you'd be seeing rib outlines and thats not right. Hell, I'm 185 and ideally I'm more 190-200 putting on muscle weight to actually get some arms defined and whatnot...I have a runners/soccer player type build, I'm in shape, but not muscular.

Yeah...Girly arms is harsh! I'm skinny but I know I don't have girly arms, I just may not have huge ripped arms either. Being athletic is great though, it's awesome how that can help keep you in halfway decent shape.

I look forward to impressions....my Dad is considering getting a Wii for Mario Kart (they're borrowing mine soon), and my mom is very intrigued by Wii Fit...as am I, but I'm not totally convinced I'd use it much but that's what your impressions are for (you guys are more like me so it'd be a good wall to bounce things off of).

I'm with you....I really want the wife's input though, cause that's probably how my mom would end up playing. They're not sure they want a Wii, but I know she'll want me to tell her everything about it and if she'd like it...

That's the appeal of the Wii...it's crazy how many casual people it's grabbing in

My wife also wants Wii Fit, for me it doesn't look appealing. Nintendo has been smart this generation of gaming, they opened this system up to the old folks and moms. LOL!

LOL, so true. I was watching some nonsense on HGTV w. the gf the other night and she just gets up and goes into the other room to play Mario Kart without even asking me if I wanted to play!

I never thought I'd see the day that would happen, she is addicted.

He's a supervisor around here too! Then again, I support IT so i'm the one who typically looks out of place around here.

Seriously though we joke around all the time... he's not athletic at all and pokes fun of himself all the time. He can't even change the water cooler jugs without really struggling and working up a sweat! He's only 40 too, so it's not even like he's that old yet.
