Good stuff and I couldn't agree more with him. Good to hear someone with a voice sounding off on this (not that I have any hope it will make a difference).

You know how you avoid what Adam is talking about ........ just play with your friends.

My friends are all mature adults so when I game with them I don't have to deal with people dropping n bombs, gay bashing, people who take gaming way too seriously, etc.....

Why would anybody want to play with randoms in the first place?

People can complain all they want but that type of conduct isn't going away. Certain individuals get e-courage because nobody knows their real name, what they look like, where they live, etc...

I agree that playing with friends is the simple solution. The problem for me is that I only have a couple of friends who have Xbox Live. I have never been a huge online gamer (although COD4 has certainly changed that for me), so I don't have a bunch of friends that I have made through online games, etc.

The rampant racism and childishness on Xbox Live does absolute kill the fun for me at times. Unfortunately for me, it is (generally) play with randoms or don't play at all.

I agree whole-heartedly. I find myself avoiding online play for that reason. Im so tired of hearing racial slurs constantly. I work and have kids, and my friends work and have kids. We cant always play at the same time, so it makes online worthless for me most of the time.

Well yeah, you got kids in halo 3 saying slurs, and people making nazi kkk cars in forza 2. Even so, I highly doubt all these people are truly racist or homophobic. They are simply being asses trying to get this exact rise out of people anonymously.

It doesn't bother me though, as I never even really pay attention to it. I mean, can you really take someone seriously who calls you a homophobic slur in an UNO game?

I play Halo pretty often and unless I play with my friends I almost always play with my mic off. The people online are so annoying, I just don't even want to hear them.

You pay for a service, then have to limit your playtime on it to just your friends because of idiots that have nothing better to do than use offensive language?

Eh, I agree for a pay service, but the couple times I played GTA on the PS3, I heard the same stuff. It's not just XBL. I've heard it on Warhawk as well.

Yes, Sessler is focusing on Live, but this hostile attitude has taken over many types of online gaming. It's not just the xbox users.

It's the main reason for almost all online games, unless I have friends in the room, I don't use a headset. Whether it be XBL or on the PS3, not worth my time to hear it or discuss it.

well I believe that you can mute all but friends with a click of a button.

I don't really like playing with randoms, but not because of the language and attitudes. I grew tired of people ruining games by driving backwards on race tracks, glitching games, or just overall behavior that takes the fun out of a game.
