Re: BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger
IGN
The home versions will see some big additions. Most notable is an all new story mode, with individual stories on offer for each character. This mode promises branching stories based off both battle results and player choices, along with full voice for all dialog. Arc has even gotten Studio Gonzo to work on animated sequences!
It appears that this story mode will be huge in terms of volume, with general director Toshimichi Mori joking with the magazine that the staff complained about there being too much content! Players can expect the equivalent of a full Japanese-style dialog-based adventure game, with over 30 hours of play time.
Also new for the home is network compatibility. Players throughout the world can look forward to online matches along with online rankings and a viewing mode. Download content is also being planned.
The game will also see a few gameplay changes, most notably the addition of Astral Heat special moves for all characters. In the arcade version, only a few of the boss characters had access to these moves.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

IGN: An Extensive Look at BlazBlue
Everything felt familiar to me, though the new characters, moves and polished art style gave it a feeling of its own. Guilty Gear fans will have no trouble picking this game up and jumping right in, while beginners will have an admittedly harder time learning the ropes. Fortunately, BlazBlue has been designed to be more beginner-friendly than Guilty Gear and combos seemed very easy to string together and execute. While Street Fighter IV, for example, requires precise command inputs, BlazBlue is much more forgiving. While I wouldn't call the game "loose," considering how finely tuned it is even in its early stages, the combat is less restrained and encourages a sense of wild aggression and experimentation.
BlazBlue will obviously feature a normal assortment of Arcade and Versus modes, as well as a full-blown Story mode with plenty of dialogue. I was told that Gonzo will be producing a new opening for the console version with a theme song performed by J-pop star Kotoko. The game will also feature online play as well as Achievements and Trophy support. The game's online modes include both ranked and unranked offerings, as well as six-player lobby support where friends can meet up, chat and spectate the current match. Leaderboards outside the lobby will also display who is currently playing, as well as the player's character of choice. Mori explained that his team is very hard at work making these modes possible.
Before our time was up, I asked him what his favorite moment in the development process was. The director answered that he enjoys going out into the world and seeing the game played publicly, in arcades and the like. From what I've seen of the game so far, I have no doubt the game will garner a loyal following here in the states as well.
BlazBlue is being developed for the PS3 and 360. The game will hopefully see a console launch sometime this year.
If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty excited about it.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
