Picked this up using some trade-in credit at GameStop (traded in the games when they had that extra 50% trade-in deal, most of em the games i traded in were crap too)

Anyways, I'm 5 hours in. Starts off a little slow to me, but now I'm getting more engaged due to the immense battle system. The cut scenes are cool too with the smooth transitions to battles in some situations.

Just picked this up. Heard a lot of mixed opinions about this game so I had to try it out myself.

I'm probably about halfway through the game, at about 22 hours. I am going relatively quickly, and I've only done 1 session of grinding. I don't know how anyone beat this in 32 hours.

Just reached Oerba (took a while to get there). I like the music here, it really fits.

Finally done at 58 hours. Loved the characters, cut scenes and combat style were great, but I know that I am never going to be able to play a game with this much fighting of this kind again. Although there wasn't too much grinding, I'm just totally burned out on having to do so at all.

Yeah because no offense there's absolutely no zazz to be found, not here anyway, not in these parts.

there are definitely points in this game where you just get tired of fighting the low level enemies. In the next game they absolutely must include more in depth side missions and a more meaningful leveling system. and they need to find a way to get rid of the tunnel effect.

having said that, i've really enjoyed the game. there are points in the story that are very powerful. I'm only on chapter 11 so there is more to come

Man, I gotta get back into this game. I'm on Chapter 10, but just dropped it for some of the other games I have. I'm the biggest Final Fantasy fan out there but this game just does nothing for me. Going to finish it, but it's going to be tough.

I'm 40 hours in (Chapter 11 - the very end of it more than likely, based on the boss I'm fighting) and kinda wondering about two things I thought I would have an answer for by now...I'll spoiler one of them even though it's not really spoiler worthy (except for the location, I suppose):

                          Spoiler

2: I really thought I'd understand this one by now...Several component items I've gotten throughout the course of the game appear to have no real use other than selling. A few of them say "can be sold for a premium" which makes sense on those, but there are several mineral-looking names with -ite on the end of them where the description reads "functions as a transformational catalyst". Even better, these -ite items can't even be used in upgrades.

I'm far enough into the game now that there shouldn't be any tutorial stuff left...so what am I missing here? What purpose do these items have?

You use the mineral-catalyst items to ugrade weapons once they reach a "plus" status.

for 2, keep those items they are valuable in most cases. you use them to upgrade (as a catalyst) for a weapon when it reaches the "star" level during upgrades. specific minerals are used for specific weapons.
