Q. Can you describe the multi-player elements of the game - I assume co-op, but are there large scale player vs. player battles?

A. As you correctly assumed there is 4 player co-op through the whole of the single player campaign on both PC and console formats. We have two additional modes. The first is known as Annihilation and these areas are based around chokepoints where we felt exciting large scale battles could take place. In this game mode we give the players various vehicles and lots of cool kit and then let them fight it out. The second mode is known as Infiltration and this is something I'm particularly proud of. In this mode the USMC Spec Ops are the infiltrators and must destroy a particular target in the enemies' base of operations. As they're Spec Ops they're well quipped however we deliberately unbalanced the numbers for a more exciting gameplay. You'll find that the USMC have only 10 men against a much larger force of 22 PLA characters who are trying to stop and hunt down the USMC before they can complete their objective.

I am so disappointed that online versus is limited to just 4v4. I don't know if I'm buying the game now.

Uhmmm, where did you see this?? You sure your not confusing the four player coop campaign mode with player versus player mode?? I'm not sure what the player limit is, but 4 vs 4 seems rediculous considering the wide open sandbox environment this game is advertising.

Can anybody shed any light on this??

I'll probably get this game regardless as I loved the first OP FP on the PC!!

I read a while ago that they were toying with the idea of having low player number's and giving each player command over 8 other ai characters - you could order them around or just let them play.

THIS newer article showed the multiplayer infiltration and he said it was 10 vs 22 ...if that's all human than a full on vs match would be 16 vs 16.

If that's the case that would be ok, but I would still hope for many AI soldiers too.

looks pretty good to me. I'll probably pick it up right away, can't wait for single player, and hopefully they find a way to make multiplayer fun as well.

read something about this game in GI and it said shooting enemies closer than 30- 40 feet will be rare.
