Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps
A design Issues I have:
AI not taking proper Cover
Not being able to select personnel load out( Every Marine should have a optic on his weapon)
In real life, If I want you to move somewhere I will point and say " move over there". At no point will I issue a grid coordinate when talking to my fireteam
Unrealistic Missions, The US Military likes to have a 3-1 advantage. At no point will a squad of 4 people take on a Company sized Element.
The Flank is Ineffective with only 4 people. A proper flank should have 8 people, 4 people laying down cover fire, and the 4 other people flanking. The Flank Should start with a mini retreat, then swing around and become parallel with the Enemy. At this point a Line should be formed and the flanking team should assault through the objective.
AI does not double tap. After a fire fight, the assaulting team clears the objective, putting more bullets into the enemy. Once you have past the objective, it is against the Geneva Convention to shoot the enemy if they are unarmed. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

but I think this game has achieved that putting games like this out on consoles is a viable goal where you can be successful. I'm sure this will lead to future releases and hopefully will improve.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

If you like this game, you should check out Bohemia's other title, Arma II. I've been playing it on the pc and it's pretty damn good. I believe it might also be available for the 360.Comment

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps
I was playing with a friend last night and finally got past that 3rd mission. I kept getting to the end where you had to defend the little base, but something would always go wrong and I'd get shot. This time I had a good amount of support left, so I just hung out in the cabin right in front of that big field in the south and took pop shots from the window every now and then.
I've been doing the campaign with a buddy online but he keeps on dying so early in the mission that I end up running out and getting shot so he can get back in. Last night he did a little better, but he didn't make it to the end. I don't see him getting too many acheivements in this one lol.Comment

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps
the one crap thing about this game is the lobby's. too many failed connections and too slow to start games. If it gets too much worse than it is now, eventually I might trade it in. Good game, I hope they make more like this, but 20 min to get into a good-connection game of 4vs4 is too long. I do enjoy sniping people in this a lot though, I just wish I could find more ammo when I run out of bullets instead of running into the open trying to kill people with my handgunLiquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps
I finally got this game on Saturday and am enjoying it so far. I'm only up to the third mission but I've already realised how brutal it can be. I love that it rewards tactics and punishes stupidity but the checkpointing is so completely random and unreliable that I'm already getting frustrated.
I mean I clear out the AA teams and settle in to defend the village. I manage to defend it for a good 10 minutes and figure that I've almost beaten the mission. Then a lone PLA soldier charges in a shoots me dead close range. Bam! Straight back to a checkpoint before the AA teams have been cleared out! Argghh...I hate repeating crap in games because of rubbish checkpointing. Its my pet hate.
If this game had a save anywhere feature it would probably be my favourite shooter of all time.Well it would be up there....

If it had a save anywhere feature that would take away the stress etc.. that is part of what makes the game great.Joshua:

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory had quicksave and I found that game to be tense as hell.
I just wish we had the option and hardcore dudes like yourself could simply choose not to use it.Comment

Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps
I've always hated that argument. In my opinion its a cheap method of adding tension and actually shows disrespect to gamers who don't have bucketloads of spare time.

And for what it's worth I have very little time anymore to game but when I do I still prefer the no save method.Joshua:
