It's just a gun that should be sold for money. There's far better shotguns than it, and it only serves a niche purpose. It's even more pointless than the shotguns that shoot rockets.

i disagree, it was very useful for me, especially when you need a second wind, just bust that bad boy out if something is right in your face, and one shot usually took them out

            Re: Borderlands

I'm thinking of getting this game this week when I get my paycheck... it'll give me something to do during the Thanksgiving break, but I don't know if it's worth it. I really enjoyed Fallout, and I never got to finish it because it was for the PS3 and my bro owned that PS3... I'm an average fan of FPS, but I'm in the mood for some RPG I think. I was thinking of Assassin's Creed, but it looks like pretty much the same game as the first one except it looks like it was the game that the first one was supposed to be this time. Besides, I never got to finish the first one (trying to get 100% in each stage...so it took me a while and eventually I got bored with it, but I still have to finish it one of these days when I'm really really really bored).

I was seriously enjoying Borderlands until I got MW2... I'd probably still be playing it if it wasn't for that, if that helps your decision at all. Also, if you have friends that play it, that would definitely make this game more fun.

Borderlands is so much fun. I played single player for a while just to get familiar with the game and what not...but the real fun really began when I played with friends. WOW. What an awesome game.
Love the graphics style too, very unique.

If you're looking for an RPG, you're looking at the wrong game.

The fact you mention Fallout also points out this isn't for you. It's really nothing like Fallout 3. It's a FPS where you just happen to get skill points and the guns are randomly generated. Other than that, it's just a regular FPS with a mediocre story that doesn't really matter much.

There is a talent tree system in the game which does make each character very unique. That's very RPG. In a normal FPS, the main character stays the same. It's as RPG as an FPS game is going to get.

I love Borderlands. I highly recommend it. It has a lot of similarities to Fallout 3, so I disagree a little on that as well.

I also do not have Xbox Live... so if you guys who are saying that it's fun playing with friends, is it worth it just playing by yourself? I was thinking Borderlands or Assassin's Creed 2... (have yet to finish the first one, like I mentioned).

So far I've played mostly alone and I'd say its worth it even without live.

It's a blast even without live, however, if you ever get the chance to play it with some friends on live, it's hard to go back to single player.

And other than the skill tree, which I mentioned, there's nothing RPG about it.

All I'm saying is that if he's a fan of RPG's and not much of a FPS game, he's looking at the wrong game. It's a FPS with basically two RPG elements - leveling, and a world with quests instead of just a linear story. Other than that - there's really nothing RPG about it.

I'd recommend it for someone looking for a FPS with some RPG elements. I would not recommend it for someone looking for an RPG with a FPS style of play - that's more Fallout 3. Two very different games.

It has RPG elements but it is not nearly as deep as Fallout 3. That said, it is a completely awesome game in it's own right. It doesn't try to be Fallout 3. It is a hybrid FPS/RPG.
