The whole time I've been playing I've been thinking "This is Fallout 3" with less story and more action.

Get it YP, this game is fun as hell, and I've yet to play an MP at all.

I personally enjoyed Fallout 3 more due to the story and other aspects (changing the story/plot with NPC interaction), but Borderlands is great in its own way. I'm glad to not worry about gun deterioration and whatnot.

They're just 2 different games...Fallout 3 was more RPG/story while Borderlands is going for action and gun variety.

I just happen to really enjoy a good story in a game, like Uncharted, and Fallout 3 had much more depth in the story and side missions.

I'd recommend Borderlands to everyone though, it's just flat out fun...It's great to not have to worry about dying, creating save points, etc...If you die it just costs you money, so you can hop right back into battle.

I don't think either games are at all similar other than setting and being first person.

Fallout 3 did have a great story and characters, but pretty bland gameplay. This game doesn't have a bad story, but the gameplay so far is a lot of fun (the car controls kind of suck) - and the randomized weapons system is pretty awesome.

Are shields also randomly generated in this game? they don't seem to be - nor do the grenade enhancements, since I got two of the same one.

to me, it's easier to think of Borderlands as a FPS game with RPG elements built into it. while a game like Fallout 3 being an RPG game with some FPS elements to it.

this game reminded me of Too Human a lot too(not in actual gameplay, but the weapon drops/randomization and leveling) the actual gameplay reminded me of a CoD-type FPS. heck, the controls are basically the same as CoD.

I didn't see/read much on this game before release or expect much from it at all, but after playing it for 5-6 days now, I think it's a great game.

Hit lvl 46 earlier today with Mordecai. I found a nice, ammo regenerating, static revolver with a 2x chance to shock the enemy.

I have a revolver similar to that myself. it only does 128 damage, but has ammo regeneration and x2 fire.

I also have a Combat Rifle that has ammo regeneration, along with a SMG(neither have an element damage though). both of which have low damage compared to other weapons of that type, but you don't have to worry about ammo with them.

the fire is definitely my favorite elemental in this game. it just kills everything. I have a revolver that does close to 200 damage plus x4 corrosive damage, but it doesn't seem effective at all. I do more overall damage with a revolver that does 154 damage with x2 fire damage.

I have yet to find a better shotgun than the one I'm currently using. 112 x12 damage, 2 round clip, but the reload speed is literately about 1 second with all my bonuses with my hunter. I can fire those 2 shots really fast as well. most of the time the non-boss/non-badmofo dudes I can kill with 1-2 shots.

I've been using my new revolver now for the most part though, 254 damage x2 fire, 2.4x zoom, with accuracy over 95. it's a blue level weapon. I do have another revolver that does 591 damage with no elemental, +200% melee, and +55% reload speed. but it's one of those 3 shot revolvers and I love the fire effect of my other one.

I love the Corrosive Effect, watching people melt away is pretty darn cool. Right now I have 3 Weapons that are getting the Job done, I am still looking for a fourth but I am satisfied with What I have. I am a Level 48 so here is My Loadout:

There are similarities but who cares, both games are great in their own right. Besides its not like Gearbox intentionally copied Fallout, Games like these take multiple years to develop so this game was well in development even when Fallout 3 wan announced

Shawn just got the game and we both created new guys so we could co-op on the same missions, just awesome!

He was the soldier and the turret is sweet! I created a hunter and the bird's pretty cool too, can see how it'd be useful as I power it up.

Question....say he invites my lvl 20 to his game, can we still go through his missions? Does it level my damage down (but still keeps my guns and powers)? Just wondering how that works...

Nope.

If you're a higher level than he is you guys will still be playing his quests, they'll just be a hell of a lot easier. This is how I leveled up so fast in the beggining, I was level 10 or so and invited DakkoN to my game who happened to be around level 20 at the time. We absolutely cruised through the quests and by the end of the night I was like level 17-18. In a lower level game, high level guys only get like 1 or 2 xp for killing things though.

That's what guys were talking about earlier in the thread..about not wanting to fly through the game and wanting to play with people either at their level or close to it.

edit: 50 is the level cap, right? If so I'll probably hit that by the end of the week. When I'm done I'm thinking I'll start a new game as the Siren so I can play with some of you guys. We need to get a group on so we can head to the arena and see who's the baddest.

Found an assault rifle with red text "The destructor has come". Shoots the whole clip of the gun when you shoot it while zoomed in and shoots normal 3 burst shots while zoomed out. Will stop shooting the whole clip if you let off of Left Trigger while it's shooting... pretty neat...

I got a shotgun Solid that does about 166x7 with a 5 round clip.

Also just for reference: CLASS MODS ONLY PUT SKILLS UP IF YOU HAVE ATLEAST 1 IN THAT CATAGORY.

Also there is a Gun Cloning technique incase someone has a nice gun they want or they have a nice gun you want.
