    Re: MAG (PS3)

I actually think MAG has run its course with me for the most part.

Made it to level 27 and Im not seeing it last much longer for me.

The game has a certain progression feel to it, meaning as you get higher level, then you unlock more modes and a few more weapons.

My biggest issue is that I have now unlocked all of the game modes and instead of getting progressively better, its getting worse for me.

Ive tried to enjoy the 3rd and 4th games, but I just cant. There are so many people running around and so many objectives to accomplish at once...that the end result is nothing gets done at all. There is nothing you can accomplish on your own, and with 128 people scrambling around all over the map with not the first clue what to do, its so confusing that it isnt even fun.

You start out with a suppresion map ( 1 )
Next step is Sabotage with (2) attack and (1) defend map
Acquisition has (2) attack and (1) defense map
Domination has (2) attack and (1) defense map.

At the end of the day, that puts you at 10 maps total which isnt bad.

Suppresion is just a training map so that will last you a couple of levels when you start out, Sabotage is where most of the action is at. You will see these 3 maps a ton. However, once you get to the next 2 portions of the game, it seems to fall apart.

End result for me is that only 3 maps out of 10 are enjoyable.

I certainly enjoyed my time with it and feel like I played it enough to justify my purchase, but I dont see the enjoyment factor lasting much longer.

They need to patch in a better tutorial. As of right now, no one knows where to go and what to do in the larger maps. At least very few do. I really, really enjoy Sabotage though.

I don't have a ps3, but think this game looks great. I don't get all these comments though, is there no such thing in MAG as a straight up team deathmatch? To me, with so many players, that would be the ultimate TDM - I has the potential to be like a real war

There is a TDM, it is 32 vs. 32 if my memory serves me correctly. It's fun, but the other modes provide more of an incentive to play because they garner more XP.

Domination is the mode that has a total of 256 players. The map is freaking huge, so the players are spread out pretty wide across it. I just wish there was a step by step guide to really make it clear what the hell is going on, because there are so many objectives to accomplish.

I'm liking the game, A LOT! I like supression because there's not as many people running around but, if you want to level up, the other modes are were it's at.

I will admit, domination is just crazy! People running around going nuts. But, if they had some sort of training mode or video on the way eash is supposed to be played, it would be soooo much better.

But, all in all. I like the game. It reminds me of Socom a little and I like that. I like that there's something to strive for instead of people running around knife spamming everyone.

I will contintue to play this game and I hope we keep the OS Clan going and add more people.

I understand all of the comments about the Domination mode. When you're first learning how everything works, it's anything but easy. I don't know how long it took before I fully understood everything that was going on around me, but it seemed like forever. In the rounds that I've been in, only once have I won (and that was defending). SVER is so stacked (because of all the Gamestop preorders) that it's tough to deal with their numbers. If anyone wants to group up with me and try to learn a little more about the mode, let me know. I've finally got my level up where I can be Squad leader (which is absolutely great). The perks that come along with the role are lovely.

do they keep people separate in domination? For example, if I had 256 friends and we all agreed not to fire a shot and meet in the middle of a map is that possible?

one youtube vid I saw the map looked H-U-G-E!

Just got a chance to play this morn, my gf hogged the tv playing mass Effect practically all last night. Like the game so far, it's just a matter of perfecting skills now. If y'all are running a game tonight let me know.

Smiley I might have to take you up on that offer tonight. I really want to understand domination and acquisition more.

Just unlocked the 4X scope for my Scaresque Assault Rife. I am going for the top assault rifle next. Only drawback is that it costs 5 skill points.

I have two questions in terms of the radar.

When are you visible on it?

I noticed that some people show up as arrows on the radar and others dots, why?

Technically you could, but that wouldn't be advantageous from a strategic perspective. Each squad has a specific objective to carry out to work toward the larger goal.

We have to form a group before we join a game or else it doesnt work. Just trying to select join game will give you a random game doing the same battle the other player is doing.

Accept the group request first, and then the group leader chooses a map and it automatically transports everyone to the same game and squad.

Ok, I'm going to try and remember the different times. You're visible when someone on the other teams sees you, when you fire your gun, when the other team uses a Recon UAV (leadership perk), and I believe you can unlock a UAV device (motion sensor).

As far as what's on the radar: Red dots=enemies, blue dots=teammates, blue arrows=squadmates

One of 3 things could've happened here. 1) You may have ran into a guy using the "Improved stealth" skill, that masks you from motion detection (unless you're sprinting). 2) You ran into an Officer-In-Charge, that has an improved stealth perk that comes along with the role. 3) You ran into a guy who was within a close range of the Officer-In-Charge (anyone within a certain range of a leader inherits those perks as well).
