Re: Braid (XBLA)
Yes you can get all the puzzle pieces in that world in the demo.
For The Hunt...
Stomp on the first guy on the ground.
Climb the ladder but DO NOT stomp that guy.
Jump across and stomp on that guy.
Climb the ladder.
Now you should be on the rock platform thing. Wait untill it gets near the end then stomp on him, after that while in the air go off the ledge and stomp on the 2nd one you didn't before wich will be enough to make it to the other platform.
Stomp that one, climb the ladder and finish off the last one and the door will open to the piece.
I like it but it cost too much. Especially since we STILL don't have equal Canadian pricing on points and it's apprently only 3 hours long.Comment

Re: Braid (XBLA)
I finally figured out this one key one on I think it was World 4 -- it's the world where you control time by moving forward and backward. Anyway I could not figure out how to keep the key from moving back to the beginning of level (which is right next to the initial ladder). I realized I had to get the goomba to the 2nd level by moving the one moving platform in reverse. Then on that platform the goomba would pick up the key and I'd rush up there to kill it, pick up the key, then try to go up the other ladder only to have the key go back to the start again. I finally realized I had to let the goomba live long enough so the key got to an area it couldn't originally go to, then I was supposed to murder the goomba in cold blood. Yargh.
Anyone else have severe trouble with that one (hope I described it well enough)?
And people buy just useless things for $15, justifying a price of a well-made Arcade title should be the least of your wasting money worries.
PS, now I just need like 4 more pieces on the last world and I will have gotten them all. It's been challenging, though for the most part I never blamed the game, which is a good sign that the puzzles are smart but fair.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Braid (XBLA)
Got all the pieces yesterday and beat it. Now to do some speed running.
And another note on the price. I would think that people would be more upset at how MS sells games rather than the prices. You can't just buy the game straight up for $15. Instead, you either have to go get a 1600 point card for $20 or buy 2000 points through Live for $25. Both options leave you with left over points that end up getting used on impulse buys since you already have the points anyways.Comment

Re: Braid (XBLA)
I think I might be regretting buying the game. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing. The graphic style, the music... It's making my brain hurt though. I felt good after finding all the pieces in the demo and then I download the full version and can't seem to figure any puzzle out at all. The level Sliz is talking about made me want to pull the hair out of my head.
This game reminds me a bit of Professor Layton for the DS. That game KILLED me. I can't see how the average person could figure out 80% of those brain teasers.Comment

Some of those time levels I think to get stuff you have to enter from the exit door by going to the next level and then back through the door that leads to that level.Comment

Re: Braid (XBLA)
Stats: The First Week of Braid
Braid has now been out on Xbox Live Arcade for an entire week, and the week has been a good success. The wave of highly-positive reviews took me by surprise, but the unexpectedly good sales show that this isn’t just a game for critics: a lot of people out there are playing Braid and getting good things from it.
I want to thank everyone for their support over the past week: whether by buying the game, telling friends about it, or just posting here with thoughts about Braid, it has all contributed to a successful launch. I hope this will serve as a useful data point for other independent developers: we can make games that are unusual, experimental, or personal, and there’s a substantial audience out there who will play and enjoy them.
Here are some numbers:
As I write this, there are 62,242 entries on the main leaderboards. I don’t have official sales numbers for the full week, but I would guess about 55,000 people have bought the game so far.
18,141 have completed the game (or at least gotten 60 puzzle pieces, since that is what the leaderboard shows).
528 people have completed the Full Game Speed Run. Of these, 238 have beaten the challenge time, and thus gotten all 200 Achievement points that you can get from Braid on Xbox Live.
Thousands of people have been playing the single-level speed runs. There are 5,098 people on the Leap of Faith speed run leaderboard, for example.
Sales are now slower than they were on launch day, but not too much: the sales didn’t just die after the first few days, as they do with some games. As a result, it looks like I will be able to make the next game, without needing to get a job that would interfere with that. (The estimated sales so far of 55,000 are not enough for this, but extrapolating into the future, the situation looks safe). Thank you, once again, for making that possible.
An open question now is whether sales will drop more steeply now that Bionic Commando: Rearmed is the new game on Xbox Live Arcade. I hope not, but we’ll see! If you have any friends who you think may enjoy Braid, please do let them know about it — perhaps while they are playing Bionic Commando, they can also try out the Braid demo.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Braid (XBLA)
Braid is coming to the PC and I assume it would be up on Steam, if that ends up being the case, then it will do similar sales to what it has done on XBLA. Blow said it could come to PSN, but he would have to hire somebody to do the port and realistically, it wouldn't show up until late 2009 or 2010.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
