Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
Did Yakuza 2 even make it to america? I was under the impression that the first one didn't do to well despite all the success it had in Japan.Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
the 2nd came out like a month ago on the ps2. It was a quiet launch, plus Sony has stripped backwards compatibility out of all ps3's now I believe.
I loved the 1st one, but haven't played the 2nd. Sucks that it's only on Sony consoles, and I wonder how much appeal it'll have outside of Japan again. It can be compared to Shenmue, as it's got adventure/rpg/beat em up elements.Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
The 2nd is just as good.
They still need to bring the other Yakuza PS3 game over here:
There's a demo of it in the Japanese PS store, two actually, one for mini games and one for the main game.Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
what's this game about? Like, is it just a 3rd person oblivion? Or is it closer to a GTA?Last edited by Tmacattack; 10-09-2008, 02:54 PM.Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
I only played the first one, and it seemed held back by the PS2's hardware. It was a very ambitious game which could come to full fruition on the PS3.All ties severed...Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
Closer to GTA in terms of story (Mafia stuff) and content (tons of mini games, adult themes) but far as gameplay goes it's closer to the old school beat 'em ups like Streets of Rage and Final Fight. There's very little shooting in the first two and I would assume none at all in the first PS3 game. The heat moves are the best part, they're special moves to do when your meter fills and they can be done hand to hand or with weapons.Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
Anyone by chance know what the Japanese says in that first video? If it reveals much about the game?
I'm curious to know whether or not you'll be able to cruise around the city without the load times that were in the first game. All ties severed...Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
Looks like there's a transition into the fights instead of load times...
All in all it's looking great.
The first one had a lot of promise, even if it fell short of being a stellar title. All ties severed...Comment

Re: Yakuza 3 looks *bleeping* phenomenal
For a PS2 game, for $30,if you like beat 'em ups and/or mafia stories then yes I'd say it's a must have. Though you really should play the first game before that and based on that trailer if you're getting part 3 it's probably a good idea to play part 2 anyway. I've gotten about 40 hours out of each game, that's doing most of the side missions and I'm not even done part 2 yet though I'm near finished. It probably should win PS2 game of the year (not that there's much competition) and best story.Comment
