I hope this game succeeds, because it might encourage Sega to hurry up and release Shenmue III....I think it's more wanted than any other Action / RPG around....

Hopefully they will re-release Yakuza 1 and 2 on PSN download.

I really didn't spend much time with the Hostess/Cabaret Clubs in the first two games, so this news doesn't really bother me. I know many others did get into that stuff though. I think what's got people more pissed off than anything is SEGA's comments of the Hostess Clubs not resonating with a western audience, which is funny considering they did localize them for both Yakuza 1 and 2. Should have just said they didn't have the budget or time, and ended it there.

If a Shenmue 3 ever comes out, I will buy it day one and literally take the entire week off of work.

I wish Sega would do a God of War collection type release and HD/60fps Shenmue 1 and 2

Also, I think they said they'd be willing to do Shenmue 3 but want help/funding for it from the highest bidder. Sony should pull out their wallet quick smart...

I love shenmue as much as anyone, and would love nothing more than to finally ****stomp Lan Di after a decade, but Sega is the master of trolling their delusional fanbase.

The game is never going to come out, especially funded as a console exclusive. Not only is Sega a shell of the company that put the games out originally a decade ago, but Yu Suzuki retired, and the games only ever had a small rabid fanbase.

I played Yakuza 2 and liked it and tried the demo for Yakuza 3 and now not sure I want to buy the new version. I wish they had a lock-on mechanic for fighting(didn't see the control option) and it was horrible, trying to line up hits was very difficult.

R1 is lock-on, but it disengages once the enemy moves.

Played the demo, thought the graphics were so/so. Sometimes they looked great, other times, eh. I liked the fighting though, it was pretty fun.

The fighting in the demo was fun but even on easy level I found it very difficult.

The setting would make this a fun game to play as it almost seems like a Grand Theft Auto Japan at times. The karoke reminded me of the dancing in GTA San Andreas.

Too bad the one million other great games that are out will prevent me from investing in this one.

No offense, but how dumb is Sega? Why are they releasing it in March? Within a month of the release date for Yakuza 3 has seen Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Show 10, God of War 3, FF 13 and BFBC 2 released. Putting Yakuza 3 out now is just sending the lambs to the slaughter. I know some of you are dying to play it now but as a business decision it seems to make more sense to hold off on it til the Summer.

Because a lot of people demanded that this game be localized.

I read that Yakuza 2 sold like 20-50'000 copies in the States. I have on problems with 3 coming out, it looks like a very promising game. I just think that Sega is just leading the lamb out to the wolves. Too many triple A titles have come out between late January to Late March.

I'm a big fan of the series so I anxiously await its arrival next week -- but I don't think I'll get around to playing it for at least a couple weeks since I got other games I need to get through right now.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

                              Eurogamer Review - 8

The omission of Mahjong, Shogi Chess, and the Answer X Answer trivia game is hardly a big loss, but it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth, especially given that both previous Yakuza games were translated without ditching any of the more obscure elements of Japanese culture. Maybe poor sales figures in the West for both titles convinced SEGA that it wasn't worth the additional effort.

Still, in SEGA's defence, it has got a point when says there's enough great content to satisfy Western audiences. Even playing through the main missions will take a minimum of 15 hours, while the addition of around 100 side quests easily doubles that tally. Factor in the innumerable additional challenges, and the free DLC bundled with the game, and it will be hard to feel short-changed.

For a game that could well have been overlooked for a Western release entirely, the removal of a few minor elements, while frustrating, is a small price to pay. What remains is a relentlessly enjoyable action-RPG, which offers a unique insight into Japanese culture despite its exaggerations. The Western version of Yakuza 3 might have suffered a few heartbreaking cuts, but it's still intriguing at every turn and shouldn't be missed.

                                IGN Review - 8.5

If you wrote about everything in this game, you’d have a 10-page review on your hands, but the long and short of it is that Yakuza 3 is a great experience. The story’s cool, the fighting’s fun, and there’s so much to do. (Did I mention beating it opens up an adventure mode, fighting tournament and other goodies?) The game is rough around the edges – it has issues when it comes to pacing and repetition, the Japanese-only voice track will turn some people off, and it does look like a game that’s been out awhile -- but all of these issues are just bumps in the road on what should be an enjoyable ride for folks looking to beat in some faces and wander the streets of Japan.
It took me 20 hours to beat the story and the stat screen said I had only done 11 percent of everything I could do.
