    Madden.

From one of the best mainstream sports games a few years ago to a parade of just not getting it done.

Too Human- I was looking forward to the game since it was announced and then I got it and it was horrible. The graphics sucked and the game was just repetitive and boring.

Mercenaries 2- It seemed like a ps2 game more than a 360 game. They should've made two seperate engines instead of just modifying the ps2 engine. The graphics were really bad, the animations sucked, and like Too Human it got boring(although not as fast).

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I would say biggest disappointment would have been Madden and NHL 09.

Both were hyped with a lot of features that were new, but in the end the core gameplay suffered IMO.

I don't think NHL 09 is sports game of the year, but to each their own. Fifa 09 is probably the MOST improved game that EA put out this year, with NASCAR 09 a close second. Really though how hard would it be to improve on NASCAR 08?

I seem like a minority here that liked GTA IV. It was difficult at times, but I thought the storyline was well played out, and loved the choices you had to make....

All of these are for 360 btw, and all of this is IMO...

Everybody here loved GTA IV, but they feel the game's appeal wore off too quickly. I guess there just aren't the same quirks in IV that there are in San Andreas. I disagree, and I still find the greatest enjoyment running over innocent bystanders.

Sports games as a whole were majorly disappointing this year. Not one title really took a leap forward,, and most regressed. I'm not big enough of a hockey fan to shell out $60 bucks on a game every year, so I did not play NHL 09 this year, so I can't comment on that.

                      Re: Disappointments of this year.

I have not bought a hockey game since regular playstation so it has been a while, so when i got NHL 09 for 360 it impressed me

Now my biggest disappointment would have to be Battlefield bad Company. Multiplayer is just off. Great sound effects and graphics just poor poor balancing.

I don't understand how people felt GTAIV was a disappointment. It has some of the best physics in any game. Better Graphics than its comp (saints row 2) and PLENTY of multiplayer modes to please anyone. A long story with plenty of thrilling missions. I don't know I just don't see disappointment and I agree with the reviews of a 10/10.

Now take saints row 2. I am about to trade it in because the driving physics are terrible. Doing 100mph and turn as if on rails is soooo last gen. With the technology we have now and they don't put in real physics or even graphics to show off. I don't know I just don't get a WOW factor off of SR2, but GTA-IV did.

Because some of the game just wasn't that fun. I loved doing the story missions or going around and doing random ****, but I hated having to deal with all your friends and having to bowl, eat, etc. with them.

GTA IV with a bunch of yours friends is really enjoyable.... The story was ok but multiplayer was what i did the most.. One of those games where you can just invite a whole bunch of your friends and just have fun. I didnt think it was a dissapointment IMO

I can agree with that, and I also feel the biggest reason that it's luster faded quickly is because absolutely nothing happens to your character.

What I mean by that is you must instigate everything..they were trying to make the world more 'living and breathing' but what would have made it really thrilling would have been if they added things like people trying to kill you - actively looking for you and finding you randomly. Or at least make it less "I'm now activating a mission" It's hard to put my finger on it.

Or make money more than just a vehicle to buy guns you know? Or being able to save anywhere instead of that annoying system they had.

I think picking a city like new york actually hurt it too, since driving there sucks! ....I think a fictional city would have been much better since it's a game, and it needs to work first and foremost as a game. There were no open areas like that 'country hillbilly' area in #3. I factually found myself mostly taking cabs after a while and skipping the ride. The clunky controls didn't help either.

It was a good game I'd give it an 8 or 8.5 tops. I've traded it in and don't really miss it. I can easily see why so many people were dissapointed - maybe they should make it more like an rpg in the future, ....

Almost all sports games now suck which is really sad. If you're primarily a sports gamer, than they might seem good, but if you like great games like fallout3 and cod4 it reveals how cheap and crappy sports games seem.
