Has anyone heard about the sneak previews NaughtyDog is holding at some movie theaters around the country? Here's some info from GameSpy:
Gamers near Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle will be able to RSVP for a screening of Uncharted 2 being played on the silver screen. Tournaments will also be held with plenty of food and giveaways. -
Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)
Yeah, I saw that too. That is a GREAT idea. The first trailer is tailor made to be shown as a preview in theaters. Hopefully, the game is a huge hit, despite the economy.Comment

Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)
yeah, besides the trailer, the whole cinema mode is perfect for an event like this. I know I haven't bought as many games this year because the economy's been hitting me. but i've been holding out all year for this one.Comment

Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)
They said the demo would be out on the 29th (Tuesday). I'm assuming someone meant this Thursday for the demo? I'm not even sure I want to play it. I want to go in completely fresh for the game when I get it in two weeks. Me buying it is already 100% done.Comment

Agreed. There are no spoilers in the demo. There are more spoilers in the teaser trailer than in this demo.Comment

Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)
I still think I want to get that "WOW" factor when I first play the game. Much like The Show demo, I felt like I had already played 100 innings of that game. Mostly because, well, I had. I want the feel to be brand spanking new, something that I haven't given myself in a game in a while. I hope that makes sense.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)
Eurogamer Review - 10
Whether or not the multiplayer sticks, however, is arguably a footnote, because at the core of Uncharted 2 is an action-adventure masterpiece whose minor flaws are washed away on a tide of rhythm and spectacle - one that would still be an essential experience even without the option to pull your friends off cliffs and play capture-the-heirloom. For over a dozen pulsating hours, Nathan Drake is among thieves, just as Naughty Dog was when it made the first game by ransacking surrounding genres. By the end of Uncharted 2 though, Drake has found his place in the world, and so has the developer - among giants.
Uncharted 2 is simply a vast improvement over its predecessor, and it's a damn great PS3 game. Let's leave the "are games art?" question for another time; what Uncharted 2 proves is that games are, at the very least, craft. Just as Raiders is Spielberg at the top of his game, Uncharted 2 is Naughty Dog at the top of theirs, and further proof that they are masters of their craft.
The Pros- Single-player game has no equal.
- Multiplayer remarkably fun.
The Cons- Single-player ending not up to the standard of the rest of the game.
- It has an ending.
While the multiplayer components are outstanding, the real price of admission is the single-player campaign that should stand up over time as a seminal achievement on the level of Final Fantasy VII, GTA III or Half-Life. Uncharted 2 delivers on what so many other games just promise: Immersion. Lost not just in a world but in a collective fantasy of the impossible made viable. That 8-year-old me in the movie theater sat yearning for the adult world to be as filled with adventure, discovery and importance as what I saw on screen. Well-situated in my 30s, content with good health and a paycheck, I pine nostalgically for when life still held that pre-adolescent potential. For the hours I played Uncharted 2, those two selves were bridged in a wonderful equanimity, a digital compromise.
It may not have the heritage of pre-PS3 franchises like Metal Gear or Gran Turismo, and Nathan Drake may not be your typical hero with a croaky voice, eye patch, superpowers or pointy blue ears. But in our books he is the exclusive defining star of PS3.
It takes elements from a lot of games - the exploration of Tomb Raider, climbing of Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed, combat from Gears of War and stealth from Splinter Cell, yet it amalgamates all of these elements perfectly into one package. You can't compare it to any other game.Verdict- Platform-defining quality from start to finish.
Uppers- Best-looking game ever
- Incredible set pieces and cinematics
- Extensive multiplayer
Downers- Occasional maze-like path-finding
- No split-screen play
So finally, Sony get its long-awaited killer-app. And what a beauty it is. Uncharted 2 not only sets benchmarks for visuals (the lighting effects alone are stunning), story and sheer fun, but it also sets a worryingly high target for all that follow it to match. Simply put, Uncharted 2 is a reason to own a PS3.
Uncharted 2 is just as good, if not better, than most Hollywood action movies. With fantastic production values, a cleverly written script, great voice-over work and refined gameplay, Uncharted 2 is the second best thing that could have happened to the PS3 going into the holiday shopping season. With Kratos riding the pine until 2010, Nathan Drake steps up to the plate and delivers a homerun for Sony.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
