Wow! The first one was outstanding, but this seems to be even better. I'll be checking it out.

Exploring the Art of Uncharted 2

What we're pushing in Uncharted 2 is making the world Drake explores more mythical while still based on real world locations. We're pushing the sense of scale and domain to make each location more interesting, more real and more intriguing than their true life counterparts. The Gompa concept exaggerates real structures but in a way that is only available in the Uncharted universe! More IS better!

The environments in Uncharted 2 are much more varied than in Drake's previous adventure, which made it extremely important for us to provide a sense of continuity as you play through the game. We don't want to our locations to feel like disconnected levels, which may break the immersive experience we've worked so hard to create. We do this by making sure that you can easily understand how areas connect to one another. In this case, the mountain that houses this mysterious ice-cave can be seen from the village at its base, which is another area in the game that you will visit. What also helps us build a sense of space is that we have zero load screens during Drake's adventure, so that moving between areas and environments in the game is virtually seamless and feels more natural.

We've already revealed that Drake will find himself in the snowy mountains of the Himalayas and in a war-torn Nepalese city. However, you'll definitely see a broad variety of new places in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. By the time you've completed the game, you will have visited a diverse set of environments throughout Asia – from lush tropical locations and urban locales, to the snow and ice of the far Himalayas. Sadly, we're not quite ready to give away the details on what you see here yet so you'll have to speculate on the significance of these images a little while longer. We'll be revealing more soon enough!

Unfortunately, we can't really discuss much of what I got to go hands-on with today, as all of the preview event's impressions are embargoed until a later date. The earliest of those impressions, for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will go live next Monday, April 27th. I think almost everyone in attendance was pretty surprised by what Naughty Dog and Sony showed at today's event, so I'm guessing the general public will be too.
                    Co-President of Naughty Dog:

Loving a new feature we added to Uncharted 2 a few weeks ago. Thanks Michiel from Guerrilla Games and Alex from @insomniacgames!
The new feature has to do with the way in which we render the graphics. It really helps the overall impression. We'll give details later.

                      Rumor: Uncharted 2 has multiplayer

Site is really slow, but they say it will come in 2 flavors: Co-op missions separate from the story and competitive multiplayer.

Wow. Multi-player. I'm not a big multi-player guy but a co-op mode with my brother would be cool.

I'm not sure that this game can be more of a must-buy than it already is.

According to Niubie, the same site that gifted the game’s new screens this morning, you’ll get the following:
                            • Multiplayer co-op for three players. Different story than single-player. Zones and actions in the map required for two and three players. Mini bosses in each section. Players will revive after a few seconds (less if aided by another player).
                            • Deathmatch. Four-on-four, and you can choose two skills. Exploration is needed to find the strongest weapons.
                            • Capture the Treasure. Like CTF. Four-on-four trying to steal treasure from the enemy base.

Uncharted 2 to Include Multiplayer, Beta Starts June 3rd

So the rumors are true and we can finally talk about it! As you’ve heard and read, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will have both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.

We managed to keep the secret completely safe for over a year and a half, but right in the home stretch before the embargo lifted today, word got out all over the internet. Of course the leaked info was only the tip of the iceberg and there is a ton of coverage being released today on dozens and dozens of websites. So, pick your favorite videogame news site and go check out the coverage from our event last week. If print magazines are your thing, we’ve gotten word that we’ll also be in more than a few magazines around the world in the next few weeks.

If you’ve been looking closely at our interviews, our team here at Naughty Dog has been growing rapidly and we now have quite a few more Dogs on staff than when work finished on UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. It shouldn’t be a surprise that we had to grow our studio to tackle the task of creating fully-realized multiplayer and co-op modes that would live up to our own high standards and do the UNCHARTED universe justice. I’m incredibly proud at the excellent work our team has done so far and it shows in the solid gameplay and incredible polish of the little slice we showed press last week. And if you’re dying to get your own hands on it, don’t worry, we’re having a multiplayer beta! It starts on June 3rd and you can get access to it through vouchers in inFamous, which goes on sale May 26th.

We’ll be back soon to talk more about our single player campaign – don’t think for a second we’ve forgotten about that! The rest of our team at Naughty Dog has been hard at work pushing our engine to its limits while creating a campaign that is more expansive and more ambitious than UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. They’ve even learned a few tricks from our multiplayer and co-op development – truly a win-win situation as all aspects of UNCHARTED 2 are benefiting from the work we’re putting into both single player and multiplayer modes.

Oh, wait! Before you leave check out a multiplayer trailer we just finished before the weekend.
