Quick question - I'm getting ready to start my second play through and I want to play through on Insanity. How many of you guys have beat the game on insanity starting with a new character? Was it frustratingly difficult?

I beat ME2 the first time with a character that I transferred over from ME1 and I ended up at level 27 with him (soldier). I could play through again with that character, but that's not really exiciting me.

I'd rather play through the second time on insanity with a different transferred character from ME1, but I'm worried it will be too difficult on insanity starting at level 1.

What do you guys think? I don't mind a challenge, but I also don't want it to be a huge pain in the ***.

This is one of the best games that I have ever played. For all who have not played this game you are really missing out on an excellent story with a great combat system to boot.

I am not even done yet and I can't wait for my 2nd run through (which I never do when I finish a game). I hope that the ending is just as good as ME1.

Ohh yeah, I learned the hard way to not let Krogans get too close to you during combat.......... they are vicious.

The general advice I've seen is to use a new character since the game would treat you as a level 27 Shepard with all of the ugprades you had at the end of your first run.

Yes it's highly recomended to start a new character for Insanity.
To clear up what Cyros means,it'll treat you like a level 27 with upgrades...but you won't actually have them. You have to get all your upgrades and weapons over again so it's harder using a transfered character. Even if you transfer a different ME 1 character you'd be starting at level 5 so the same thing applies just less. You do still get some of your ME 2 bonuses like starting out with 50k of each element.

If you haven't updated your game you can make it a lot easier using the infinte points glitch/cheat. The easy parts of the game will be harder as you won't be able to do it right until level 10 (I think) but it's better for the easy parts to be harder and the hard parts to be easier.

I used a newly imported Sentinel and Vanguard and was able to beat it on Insanity(so I started as a level 5 I think). the Sentinel was pretty easy actually. Vanguard was really tough in a few places though.

my first playthrough in ME2 was with that Sentinel on Insanity.

So it sounds like ME2 has some kind of dynamic leveling system where the difficulty is set by what level your character starts at? Is that right?

I think I'll transfer my ME1 character and go with a Sentinel. The character I will transfer from ME1 wasn't maxed out so I'll probably only start on level 2 or so.

So with the Microsoft Points deal and spending 2400 points and getting 800 free, I went and just bought all the DLC stuff essentially. Gonna be doing my third playthrough now. I'm unsure what I really want to do, so luckily the download is taking a while, giving me time to think about it. I did a vanguard imported from ME1 first time through, then a Sentinel imported from ME1 the second time. Now I'm going to do an insanity run. I don't know what class I feel like using for it though. Maybe I'll just go through insanity twice and do it with both a Vanguard and Sentinel. None of the other classes look all too appealing to me.

Man, I really need to pick this game up. I loved the first one but haven't had time to pick this up.

I really wish I had saved my original ME1 save. Does it make that much of a difference to start fresh with ME2?
