I do the same thing with Pull on my vanguard. curve it over/around walls and cover and grab them. then use charge on them and make them fly. lolComment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I agree 100%...simply amazing is what this game is. It may have won the prize of my favourite game of all time.I've been gaming steadily for about 30 years, and this game is at the top of my all time list. anybody who says video games isn't art has never seen Mass Effect 2.
I'm seeing all kinds of nods to sci fi films in this game ranging from Event Horizon to Riddick to Blade Runner to Enemy Mine to Star Wars. I could go on and on about all the cool environments and locales in this game (the planet Illium and Club Afterlife on Omega to name just a couple).
Assisin's Creed 2 was amazing, and then we get Bioshock 2 coming up as well. But Mass Effect 2 is just unreal. Anybody who doesn't play this game is missing out in a huge way.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Unlike ME 1 for sure. But instead of giving them free reign like I did in ME1, I made them only use powers when I say in this one. I like it a lot better this way and it's brought me out of serious jams. For example I'm more of a long ranged guy, so if a krogan or crazy animal is right in my face (or multiple) I'll get a shockwave sent at the enemies my way or have them pulled etc...Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I feel for ya...took me forever to get everything wired up right back when Skate 1 came out....something was connected odd and they eventually got someone to clean up how my accounts were connected and now i haven't had a problem. Eventually you'll get someone through EA help that'll actually have a clue.
I highly recommend getting the scanner upgrade, makes scanning planets way faster. I could sit there for an hour scanning planets and enjoy it, how sad is that? lol
Great game though...the battles are getting more intense for me, gotta plan and use my teammates better or else I'm toast.Last edited by mgoblue; 01-29-2010, 02:41 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Think I hit a bug for one of the missions.
Liara mission:
SpoilerThe one where she wants you to hack the systems. I've hacked two of them but the other I can't. Nothing pops up to allow me to do so. I've searched and seems like some others are having the same issue. Anyone else with this issue?Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
The drone can't take over the mechs. That's AI hacking, same as it was in ME 1. Need level 2 Cryo Blast to get that but I haven't put anything into that. The drone turns into a bomb or can be made to break through all types of shields. Yes it's enjoyable. Like I said it eliminates the need for ammo. It also negates cover because Incinerate will go around/over it and the drone can be spawned behind them. As at least one of the enemies will turn around and shoot at the drone it's also useful from the defensive standpoint. Oh and Incinerate does damage twice. Once from the initial hit + the drain from them being on fire. A good comparison would be a necromancer type character in other RPG types.I was going to ask if anybody here was playing as an engineer. I had no interest in that class in the first Mass Effect because I like the biotic powers, but the video I saw of the engineer for ME2 with combat drone and the ability to take over any mech, uh, that sounds awesome. Sounds like you're enjoying it so far, care to elaborate a little bit?
I put it all in the special skill,Charge and Shockwave. I have Pull just haven't thought to use it.Last edited by goh; 01-29-2010, 04:36 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I'm gonna ask a couple of questions and I hope nobody gets offended. Why is this game popular? It's like a sci-fi game with aliens and outer space settings correct? It just seems awfully weird to me and my neighbor plays it constantly and will not shut up about it. He starts using the terminology and trying to tell me about it and I feel like I'm in the middle of a nerd convention.
I've never played anything other than sports titles my entire life until recently. Since he wouldn't shut up about this game, I just decided to see what games are on the market. I rented Uncharted 2 and I had a blast with it.
Am I being close-minded about MassEffect or is this game just for that sci-fi crowd? I've watched him play for over 3 hours and another friend and I just sit in the back of the room and laugh.
I just don't get it. People seem to love it.
after re-reading my post I notice it looks like there's a tone with what I'm asking. I assure you, there's not.Last edited by Sting; 01-29-2010, 04:48 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I'm a big sci-fi fan, but I think this game transcends the genre. Do you think Bladerunner is nerdy? If you liked uncharted, you'd probably like the shooting in this game, but since you're new to 'regular' gaming, i have no idea if you'd like the rpg elements (which are among the best in the business).I'm gonna ask a couple of questions and I hope nobody gets offended. Re: Mass Effect 2
It's an extremely attractive and immersive universe. The immersion into a very believable sci-fi setting with distinctive species and locales is as much fun as playing the actual game. For some of the places I just stroll around and take in the amazing scenery. It's like being put into the middle of an well done sci fi film.......one that lasts up to 40 hours or so. If you're not into sci fi then it's probably not the game for you though.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
It's a story...you learn about the characters by talking to them, learn about the missions, and experience the twists and turns. It's like a movie, but instead of just watching action scenes you're playing, and you control the conversations.
Yeah, if you hate sci-fi it'd be tough to get into this game...but I enjoy crafting my character's powers and actions to suit how I'm playing, and this game has me wanting to see what happens next.
Since the OP is new to "regular" gaming then it might be tough to get.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I think if you import a character over the immersion factor is so more much more. It's almost kind of psuedo-realistic in that you feel that you ARE Shepard.
I found myself screaming at the tv during one mission "Edi get me out of here now!!!" Not too many games have an immersion factor that actually pull you into the game.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Mass Effect 2
Totally...when I loaded in my Shepard a lot of it came back even though it's been over 2 years. I like that my actions and decisions carry over, I spent hours crafting this character, and it's nice to keep her going.I think if you import a character over the immersion factor is so more much more. All the little things, like getting e-mails in game from people you helped in the first game, just makes it that much coolerNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
