Re: Don't Sleep on Xbox Live Community Games

There are now over 2,000 games in the Xbox 360 indie channel...and most of them suck horribly.

    A few gems:

Escape Goat -- Puzzle/platformer reminiscent of the original Prince of Persia. Awesome old-school graphics and soundtrack.

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pYjOcdkgSNM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Soulcaster I and Soulcaster II -- Action RPG inspired by Gauntlet, made by the same guy who did Escape Goat. Again, excellent throwback graphics and music.

    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IfTAzr1oz0M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Dead Pixels -- Side-scrolling action game like River City Ransom but with guns.

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xeY7sU3S1Mw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Pingvinas -- Strategy board game where your penguin team tries to eat more fish than your opponents. Supports online play!

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7mAGpQ7N5f8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Protect Me Knight -- 4-player tower defense game with 8-bit graphics and sound. Soundtrack composed by the same man who did the original Shinobi and Streets of Rage!

    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VTgGBimNHSM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Score Rush -- 4-player dual-joystick shooter with crazy difficulty and blazing heavy metal soundtrack.

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BtuiCoQBwD8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Bloody Checkers -- Explore a dark castle while challenging its resident ghosts to games of checkers. Supports online play!

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fJlZq4---QQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Blockey - 2 vs. 2 arcade hockey game similar to the NES classic, Ice Hockey.

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7lydkZm62ys" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Fitba -- Dual joystick soccer game that lets you move your player in one direction (left joystick) and aim your shots in the other direction (right joystick). Very nice ball physics. Teams are fully customizable.

    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bgmrc1umHDI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Wizorb -- Breakout with magic spells and a full RPG quest! Great 8-bit audio/visual design.

2 years later and we still can't play them offline and they buried them in the new dashboard.

Also you forgot Techno Kitten Adventure!

I saw jyoung playing Avatar Football earlier today and based on his recommendation I picked it up. Ran a game online with him and a few other guys and it was pretty fun. Haven't tried the single player portion of it yet, but it seems like a pretty solid title. I liked Barker Crest's other game, Avatar Golf, so I figured I'd like this too.

Man, sorting through the Indie games is such a wasteland now. It was always filled with a lot of garbage, but there's so many games now that it's difficult to find good ones. I'm always up for checking out some new gems though, so if anybody has played any decent ones lately let me know.

I am shocked by the quality of Avatar Football. It could easily be a full Arcade game.

In fact, it smokes the Tecmo Bowl Throwback disaster that Tecmo tried to pass off for $10 on the real Xbox Live Arcade.

Pappy and I ran a 3 vs. 3 online game of Avatar Football and there was hardly any noticeable lag except on diving tackles from behind.

Plus the editing options are just sick. Fully editable teams, leagues, and playbooks. And you can share edited rosters online.

Must-buy for all football fans at only $3.

They don't have achievements, but Avatar Football does have some unlockable "name emblems" ala Call of Duty.

I highly recommend Castle Miner Z.i don't like minecraft, but I love CMZ. It's a zombie survival where you can build defenses and such. Me and my buddies have gotten a lot time put into it. And it's still getting updates

The way it works is both people have to be online in the game. Then the sharer invites the downloader into a lobby so they can sync up their custom content.
