The problem with the Combat system is the Engine that fallout 3 was based on (oblivion Engine), so it was not very fluid, it did feel kind of clunky. But this is a very minor problem for me, Though the combat had limitations, it did not take away anything for me.

This game is a Day one buy for me, I am looking forward to it.

My main gripe with the engine was how poorly the combat system turned out, as using skill points and stats to determine the probability of even hitting an enemy in a FPS sucks. Spamming VATS got boring quick, but I still enjoyed the game though, a credit to the atmosphere and theme of the game.

I agree. Fallout 3 was a massive and very impressive game, but I absolutely hated the combat. I hope it is improved substantially in this game.

I had no problem with the combat. And VATS kicked ***. ME2 is a great game, but to me the combat is actually weak. But it's not a 'shooter' so that's ok.

Re: the city. I can buy that in the post-apocalyptic US most areas are completely decimated but with the amount of technology that did survive and the number of scientifically competent people kicking around there have to be a few towns other than the Vault City that managed to rebuild themselves to a degree better than propping up some galvanized iron panels and lighting a few candles.

                I liked V.A.T.S.

                Bloody Mess FTW!

Hopefully one thing fixed is the glitchiness, if you understand what I mean. Fallout 3 was a great game, and I'm still playing it, but there were some pretty bad glitching and technical problems that game had.

A few examples of this being getting stuck between rocks and other objects, follower pathing, freezing, slowdown, etc. I think I got stuck in the supermarket by climbing on top of one of the storage racks, and then I couldn't walk, only look around.

My friend completely lost Fawkes because he got stuck where his 'home' is supposed to be, and was stuck out of reach to the player, so he couldn't get the stuff of his Fawkes was carrying.

And the good 'ol getting stuck at a door after half an hour of unsaved playing is never fun.

But if all of that stuff is fixed, or even most of it, this is a day one for me. In fact, it's probably a day one anyway.

Agreed. I loved the first and the 2nd is in the "must buy" list.

Yeah all that should be fixed. This game does freeze a lot and has a lot of glitchs but it still a great game, just can be a headache sometimes.

I loved the VATS system it was awesome. It took sometime to getting use to but you didn't have to use it.

I can't wait for this game it will be a day one buy for me if I can't find it earlier lol.

I'm sure combat and some of the mechanics will be refined, but I wouldn't expect huge sweeping changes. Given it's being developed by a number of people who have actually worked on the previous games, I do expect a darker tone, more humor, moral decisions that aren't black and white, and better writing (Obsidian's strength).

VATS was great, yes. But shooting without it was terrible... very sluggish, very slow. The game was just too reliant on it. Borderlands has shown us that it's possible to give us great RPG elements AND a great FPS experience. The game could do that and STILL keep VATS.

Yeah thats true. Even with VATS shooting was sluggish sometimes. Fallout 3 in general wasn't a smooth game, a lot of hiccups. Still was great but if New Vegas runs smooth without all the hiccups and is as deep as Fallout 3 then this game will be amazing.
