I look at Fallout 3 as more of a spin off type game. It was made by completely different devs (Bethesda) that had zero to do with the original Fallout games & didn't 'get' the world of Fallout.

New Vegas is what Fallout 3 should of been and really a return to form with some of the old Black Isle (devs that made Fallout 1&2) ppl working on it over at Obsidian.

Man im 98 hours in and still havent completed the main story or any of the DLC stories. Im trying to complete as many side missions as i can, and find every location on the map this time through. When it initially released i just ran right through the main story. When finished was only at like level 17, i cant believe how much stuff i missed.

        Fallout 4

        Source: http://www.tekrieg.com/news/fallout-...-ears/1004566/

We have not heard much about Fallout 4 recently, but this hasn’t stopped fans looking out for it. Fans will be happy to know that recently we did hear something about the release date for the game.

IGN made a post and they put in it some statements that were very bold. JohnTheRenegade spoke about Fallout 4 coming to the PS4 and Xbox One.

He said “First things first, I know that Fallout 4 is currently in active development at Bethesda.”

There was also talk about Bethesda not making any more DLCs for Skyrim as they wanted to concentrate on the Fallout 4 game.

He said that the development team were searching for locations for the game in Boston.

He went on to say that maybe we would see a teaser for Fallout 4 heading to the Xbox One and PS4.

However some fans think that Bethesda have given up on fans and one said “It’s obvious Bethesda doesn’t give a sh-t about telling their fans what’s next, and if they’re cool with not making any money this year so be it.”

          Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I was really leery of this game when it first came out when I heard about all the bugs that riddled the game. Then after talking to people who said the patch fixed most of them I sort of forgot about it. Well I got the Ultimate Edition for Christmas and started playing it last week. I'm liking it a lot so far and the desert world is a cool change from DC/East Coast.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get the best armor and guns? I know the Gun Runners have good stuff, but I don't want to spend the CAPS. Any missions I need to complete to get free or discounted armor/weapons?

PS...I think I glitched out the watchtower mission. I talked to one of the guys too early and tipped him off and now he shoots me when I sneak into the watchtower after midnight. I heard you can get good stuff at this base but my reputation isn't high enough.

I need to go back and restart this. I got to the Vegas part, but had some crashing issues I couldn't get by. 3 years later I can probably start from scratch and not remember anything that happened.

I'm on a week vacation and have a ton of new games to play but I started this game on Sunday night after spending the day modding it and it's awesome. I got it when it launched and got to Vegas then stopped playing for some reason and finally got back to it now.

If you guys like the Fallout Series.....Look for Wasteland II coming out soon for the PC. The original Wasteland that came out in 1988 is still one of my favorites game of all time. I think in anticipation of Wasteland II, the original Wasteland is up on steam.

Anyway, the Fallout universe is based upon this wasteland game. I can't wait for Wasteland II.

Hell yea. Also check out Underrail http://store.steampowered.com/app/250520/ too, if you enjoyed those games.

Can't wait for this rpg renaissance to happen already with games like Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Dead State, Age of Decadence, Might & Magic X, Underrail, Blackguards, Grimoire...all coming up.

Ok I am thinking of trying Fallout 3 and Fallout NV on PC. Would like a list of mods that would work well with each game to add content to the game.

                          Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I need some serious help with this game.

Open world games are like a constant failure state for me. I perpetually buy them with the best intentions and never ever play them to completion. The reasons are abundant; the story doesn't quite grab me, another release comes out that I'm dying to play while I'm at the 20+ hour mark of the open work game (which I never return to because I forget the basic controls and storylines) etc.

But now is like the perfect time to finally beat one and clear up my backlog because of how dry the PS4 new releases have been! So which game do I choose??? GTA V? Nope. Skyrim? Maybe. Fallout New Vegas?.....

Yeah that's the one. Let's do this.

So after about 15 hours of play - having a great time, mind you - I now want to take my disc, snap it in half, and never EVER waste my money on an open world game again (minus RDR). Why????

Because every single side mission I go on....

Wait, is it even a side mission? I have no idea because the PIP Boy doesn't like to make my mission clear...

I kill a bunch of enemies, feel great, get to my mission accomplishing goal and....

DISCOVER I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SKILL POINTS to even finish the ****ing objective!!!!! Whether it be a locked door or terminal or whatever. I simply can't do it. The game never tells you this until the mission is practically over. And even if I decided to return to it later once I get the necessary skills, I'd have to have a damn notebook to remember which mission require what perk to finish. And I guaran-damn-tee you I will eventually go back to one of these not realizing why I couldn't finish the mission, only to walk to the mission, go down 17 floors, get to the mission marker (which is SUPER VAGUE) and remember I needed a 40 Science Perk when I currently have 39.

So upon scouring the internet for Fallout NV tips today, guess what the number one "beginner tip and trick to getting the most out of NV" is...

Completing as many side missions as possible!!!

Could someone please give an absolute noob some advice on how to properly play this game and how to distinguish main mission from side mission? And how to know which side missions I can currently complete with my current skill set?

If I go on one more mission just to find out I don't have whatever perk necessary to finish it (and always at the very end after an hour of killing bad guys) I think I will be done with open world games and especially this excellent game forever.

Help please (and thanks for letting me rant ).

There are several ways to complete objectives in a Fallout game, there's usually a standard, combat centric way, then one or more skill check ways that involve less combat, are quicker, and/or gain you more rewards. So where you seemingly hit a stopping point, you just need to find a different approach.

Really? I'm just doing it wrong?

Let's say for example the mission says, "Restore power back to A and B."

I walk in, kill all the baddies, reach the terminal and get greeted with a "Requires a Science Skill of 50."

That's where I get stuck and create rants on OS! LOL! Are you saying that the game NEVER forbids you a mission completion base on skill ratings? Like never, never?

Would me posting the name of the side quests help any or did I pretty much get it right above? All missions are complete-able at any time regardless of skill?
