You could turn the difficulty down as well.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I actually played this and FO3 on Easy. I like a good challenge as much as the next guy, but when a game's 80+ hours, dying all the time just drags the experience out, not "artificially," but close. Not to mention, there's still plenty of opportunities to die on Easy, you might be pleasantly surprised.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Yeah I tend to play these Bethesda RPGs on Easy as well.
I finished my game after about 45 hours. It was a solid experience -- coming with some of the classic Obsidian pitfalls -- but I'm honestly kind of surprised I stuck with it. Not that it was a bad experience, but it definitely didn't have the same magic as before. I also kind of felt overwhelmed by all the factions and trying to figure out how my actions would play out.
And, as usual, I really wish I didn't know I was missing something in these RPGs. When it just tells me I've failed like 20 quests that doesn't really make me feel good as a gamer, especially when I didn't even know about some of the quests I auto-fail. I am in no way a completionist, but just let me choose my actions and keep some of the under-the-hood game stuff out of my face so I don't think of so many what-ifs or contemplate resetting to an earlier save.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Still loving this game though. I personally find normal a good difficulty for me, not too challenging that i get frustrated but not to easy that i can totally dominate from the start.
Regarding sniper riflesSpoilerthe distance I can shoot someone in Vats doesn't seem much better than what i can with a plain old hunting rifle which I found a bit disappointing. Maybe it's because I'm not a high enough level but I am level 14 with guns maxed out at 100 so i didn't think that would be the case. I bought the Sniper Rifle for about 3000 caps from the gun runners so it's in brand new condition. Maybe there will better ones unlocked later (i'm not even at Vegas yet)Comment

Of course it would also be nice if you weren't having to restart the system after crashes, pause the game when it starts to chug to avoid a crash, restart because of scripting bugs, save every hour so you don't lose hours of work due to a crash/bug/glitch, google how to get your companions back after they disappear (use the elevator in Vault 22 BTW), etc but the name and quest things would be cool too.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
FYI, if you lose companion Cass, you can pick her up again in vault 22 on the pest control floor.
No idea why she goes there, but after telling her to stay put near lake mead while I did some laps looking for something, I came back and she was gone. Looked for her where I picked her up plus several other logical places, but no dice. What really sucked is I couldn't replace her with another human companion. Did some googling and it looks like that's where she ends up when 'lost.'Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Agreed. Another thing that bothers me is the named NPC effect, where you have 50 generic NPCs under the same NCR Trooper name then you see the one with a name and you know he's important in some way, just put a large list of names on the disk and randomize them for the nameless masses.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
That is my biggest thing right now. I never thought I'd say this, but there's almost too much to do. I'm not a completion person either, but I don't like knowing that I won't be able to get most of the stuff done. Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Yeah, I dunno. I just have my gaming laptop right now so I just didn't feel like playing it on there.
Yeah I don't think it's a matter of having too much to do but rather how it's all filtered and outlined. Basically, I think they need to do a better job of hiding the binary elements of your choices so you don't notice or get upset/angry/whatever when they occur for random reasons, or make those binary choices clearer, or make the choices less binary.
There are quite a few things that bothered me though, choices I shouldn't have ever been in position to make. For instance PrimmSpoilerhere I walk into town, a complete stranger, shoot a couple of guys mostly just because they shot at me, and now I have a town of several dozen including a fairly large casino and all these people are going to completely leave it up to me to find a sheriff or submit to NCR rule, without any input what so ever? Wow. Then I get to the dam and, although I have done some work for the NCR, I am now given control over setting up treaties? I'm even allowed to stand next to the president armed to the teeth?
As for the game as a wholeSpoilerI enjoyed the side stuff a lot, and the writing was much better overall, unlike Fallout 3 I felt they got the world right and made it, not only more interesting to stray from the main path, but also more rewarding.
However, the main story I'm not happy with any of the options. I don't trust the NCR, I don't trust Mr House, I don't trust Yes Man, the Legion is horrible. I guess that's what they meant by shades of gray, but I just don't like making the choice. My real playthrough I sided with NCR simple because I felt they were needed to defeat the legion. Oddly enough, the most stand up guy I think out of everybody was The King, he was a little too trusting of Pacer, but in the end he was reasonable and did the right thing once presented with the truth.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I've still only been running around the opening quests until I'm finished with 3 but haven't had any crashes or anything. I do have 2 Chets in the store but I think that was mod related.Comment
