In fact... here is a good system that someone put together for a little under a $1000

    Receiver: Denon AVR-1603
    Front Speakers: Paradigm Titan
    Center: Paradigm CC-170
    Rears: Paradigm ADP-10
Subwoofer: Sony SA-WM40 (a very good sub for the money)

Also, it is important to match speaker brand sans subwoofer, because the tweeters are usually the same and provide a consistent sound.

Thanks, that looks like a good starter system for me. Do you know of any Online Retailers that I can go to that will give me a price on all this stuff? I went to crutchfield.com (where I normally go for higher end electronics) and I can't find some of the stuff. Thanks for all your help again.

        amazon.com
        overstock.com
        half.com
        abtelectronics.com

and after that, go to resellerratings.com so you can make sure that the store your buying from isn't going to rip you off..

Thanks, I'll give those stores a shot. On a side note, not to kill the thread, ALWAYS use resellerratings.com. I just put together a computer component by component using the best prices from pricewatch.com. Every mechant was fine, but I ordered a monitor from techsavings.com; no monitor shipped ; no refund given. A true scam company, now I'm out $220 until I offically "dispute" the charge with my credit card company, which can't be good for the old credit rating.

NOW, if you want to go the online route, changes have to come. Many audio and speaker companies don't sell via the internet and many don't approve of their products being sold through the net (unauthorized dealers). Basically, business talk for "I want you to sell at MSRP!!) Crutchfield has excellent service, but they do charge MSRP.

My suggestion for internet sales would be to go with this system.

                Speakers: http://www.axiomaudio.com/epicmicro.html
                Receiver:Pioneer VSX-D811S or Harman Kardon AVR125
