That said, the name of the game is absolutely sublime and a major selling point for many of us in Europe.
Huh. Interesting tidbit there. So it's kinda the equivalent of naming a US-based game "Metallica Adventure" or "Guns & Roses Warriors", or something like that?

Being US-based, the name looked to me like some obscure Japanese anime thing and I was totally uninterested in learning any more until I read this thread.

Well I wouldn't say you can compare Metallica's and Guns 'n 'Roses' popularity to Clair Obscur which was an alternative darkwave band. This is a French game based on Belle Epoque themes but on a fictional darker side of this era without the optimism.
I'm very curious what percentage of these 1M copies were sold in USA. A wild guess would be around 10% max.

I'd be very surprised if it was that low, given how much the American game media has lauded the game and how big of a market the US is.

A movie is already in development. Hopefully it does the game justice.

At least the original post in this thread has been brought back.

I'm about halfway through, I think. As someone who is absolutely terrible at parrying, today's patch should be a godsend to me.

              🤣🤣

I have been wanting to talk about this game again, but I didn't want to create a new thread. I guess this is what we have though.

The more I look back on this game, the more that I think that it is legitimately my favorite game of all time. I don't think that there has ever been a game where I immediately wanted to play it again after finishing it.

So happy that I forced myself to parry instead of dodge everything early on. It definitely helped me out throughout the game. I just started Stellar Blade on PC, and it's helped me there too.

I could see E:33 sweeping the game awards this year. I was looking at the list of categories, and I don't know how any other game beats them in these categories:
              GOTY is a given
Best game direction - A fantastic game with some innovative approaches
Best Narrative - Such an incredible story
Best Music - The music is approaching Final Fantasy levels
Best Performance - Can we just give it to the whole cast? If I had to pick one then it would probably be Kirsty Rider, but honestly the entire voice cast is A++
              Best RPG

Just cleared the last of the achievements. First game that I've ever taken to 100% completion like that.

It and BG3 are installed on my handheld and ready to play this summer on my trips. So excited to check this game out.

Haven't had much gaming time the last couple of weeks, but I'm hoping to dive back in this weekend. I did take one Axon down last weekend. At a minimum, I need to get the other one this weekend.

The patch helped, but I'm still subpar at parrying. Lots of bad words cross my mind when I hear Maelle say "Parry it!"

I know this is easier said than done, but for parrying you need to wait until basically the attack has already hit before hitting the button. Which is a bit different than other games that have you hit the button just before contact is made. I find that keeping this in mind helps a lot, especially with all of the fake attacks that enemies do. I'm still far from perfect, but there are only a few bosses that I really struggle with when I focus on this timing.

I'm not quite done with this game but made it to Act 3 last night. Holy smokes this game just slapped me across the face with the plot reveals that come at the end of Act 2 and into Act 3. I was enjoying the game but frustrated because I felt like the plot wasn't progressing fast enough and was just dragging us along and then wow. The execution of the plot twist reveal is absolutely fantastic.

About how long has it taken you guys to complete your run-throughs of the game? I'm interested but I'm not up for another 80-hr slog right now (especially w/ football season starting LOL).

To just play through the story then about 30 hours.

To take it to 100% completion including maxing out all characters, upgrading all weapons, getting all achievements, etc then probably around 80 hours

To play through the story and do a moderate amount of side quests and get characters and weapons up to a pretty high level but not necessarily maxing out every piece of content in the game then ~45-50 hours

Thanks. That actually sounds like a perfect length for a game.

Oh and add about 5+ hours as you listen to a song on repeat for one of the big boss battles
