Re: Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC)
Infected bots coming, auto-spawning addressed
With our last update having come out a few weeks ago and the next one a few weeks out, we wanted to let people know what we are working on. In addition to "The Passing" DLC, we are working on some other updates coming for both PC and 360. While not a complete list by any means, we wanted to give a heads up on a few Versus changes coming.
Bots
We are adding bots for the Infected team to help out the Infected when they are down a man or two. This will also make 1v1 Versus a bit more fun.
Auto-spawning
We've also been experimenting with a solution for auto-spawning in Versus finales. Even though it's pretty obvious from the L4D forums that EVERYONE LOVES auto-spawning in finales, we figured, what the hell-we'd just go ahead and remove auto-spawning anyway. But before we make any change to Versus we always need to see how the game is currently being played.
So how do finales currently play out? Across all finales in Left 4 Dead 2 currently, a single survivor has a 34.56% chance of escaping. That includes the Concert Finale in "Dark Carnival", which boasts close to a 50% escape rate (and yes, a fix for everyone's favorite cheese spot is coming). Remove the Concert Finale, and we see the average drop to 29.61%. With these figures in mind, when we make changes, we can measure the difference and see how much the change impacted the balance.
Another stat we often see discussed: What gets played more, Versus or Campaign? It really depends on the day, as they are almost always statistically tied. They are unquestionably the two favorite modes of Left 4 Dead.
Also: With work on "The Passing" in full swing, we will soon be recording the actors.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC)
I agree it sounds completely awesome. I have spent a lot of time in December, January and the beginning part of this month playing games like Dragon Age, Borderlands and Mass Effect 2 but now I'm ready to get back into this game. If anybody else wants to play let's set up a time.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC)
Valve is aiming for a March release with the DLC.
IGN Impressions
At the event one map was playable, which starts out at street level in an urban area and eventually goes underground into large, cavernous sewers. While slowly making your way through the buildings, you're accosted by swarms of common infected and special infected types, which anyone who's played Left 4 Dead 2 will expect. This campaign will be playable in Versus mode and one section or more will also be opened up for Scavenge.
It's clear some sections are going to be hellish for survivors to get through on Scavenge or at maxed difficulty settings. At one point the four zombie slayers have to inch over a precariously placed plank that spans an alleyway between two buildings, an ideal spot for a smoker to snatch one off the platform, a jockey to cause chaos, or a charger to make a real mess of things. Later on, once you're underground, there's a large expanse of flooded space above which sits a network of catwalks. The catch is you have to trigger an alarm to get into this area, so you can expect a stream of zombies working against you the whole way through. It seems simple enough if all the survivors are crowded on the catwalks, but dropping down below causes problems. Since it's flooded, that means you move more slowly, so to work together you'll need decide if everyone else should drop down to help or stay above and try to clear the way for the person to make it to a ladder.
A few things new in this piece of content include a weapon and an uncommon common type of zombie. An M60 machine gun was located in room near the beginning, which can do some insane damage against common infected. To balance its power, it'll start with 150 bullets, and that's all you get. Once it's done, your survivor just tosses it away. However, while it's firing it'll near instantly shred any commons it hits, making it ideal for mowing down waves triggered by boomer bile or alarms.
Also running around the map was a new type of uncommon common. It was interesting since it seemed to be fleeing from the survivors instead of attacking. Valve said these guys came into being as a result of people who wanted to test if they were immune to the infection that's turned everyone into zombies. Clearly, they were not. But, because they tried to test their immunity (I'm assuming that means they were bitten on purpose) they brought a health pack just in case they needed to patch up afterward. If you can take them down while playing, the pack will drop, serving as a welcome bonus for any wounded squad.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC)
I don't get why they are releasing more L4D DLC. I tried to go back to play it, and couldn't, the lack of melee weapons and the overall feel just isn't as good as L4D2 is.Comment

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC)
"Nobody Survives Forever" is the tagline for The Passing.
...
Valve teases DLC for both 'Left 4 Dead' titles
Speaking with GameTrailers TV, Faliszek says players will interact with only three of the four survivors from the first Left 4 Dead. After The Passing's arrival, Faliszek says Valve will release DLC for Left 4 Dead explaining what happens to the slain survivor.
"I think fans of the franchise will be really excited that you get to see both sides of it and you actually get to play part of it," Faliszek tells GameTrailers.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
