So do you actually get to do stuff this time or is it like the first where anything resembling fun like trying to start a bar brawl or actually shoot people results in game over?

IGN Review - 7.7
As a prequel, Bound in Blood does a good job of presenting the characters, their storylines and what eventually leads back into the franchise history. It also packs in a ton of fast action, loads of explosions and a heavy dose of duels against opponents that want to take you to Boot Hill. Unfortunately, the repetitive nature of the missions, coupled with some technical issues, really keeps this title from standing out more.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood
I think it's great. Played for a few hours yesterday, and it's worlds better than the first. I'm a sucker for westerns of any type, and for me, this one hasn't disappointed in the least. I like that the platformy stuff from the first is gone. The game follows a pretty linear path, but there are sections where you can 'rest' and explore a pretty large segment of a world, take some bounty missions, ride horses, and such. It's a nice departure, and the 'free' missions are fun. The duel mode is MUUUUCH improved, and is tense as hell. The two main characters' banter is oftentimes hilarious, as they peck and slam each other as brothers will, even in the middle of a firefight. It's great stuff.
I love it..."Don't ask what the world needs; ask what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs are people who are fully alive."Comment

How do you stop auto-aiming? I turned off auto-aim and turned off sticky aim, yet I still seem to auto-target people. Is there some secret to permanently disabling this or something?Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

I hate that too. Does anyone know how to rank up? Or can explain how it works?Comment

Yeah. When you create a room they fill up pretty quick. I just wish there was a party system. Online could have been much better imo. The movements are sometimes a little herky jerky, not very smooth at times. Disconnections also from time to time. Typical Ubisoft development on the PS3, reminds me of when RB6V2 came out. Hopefully they patch it.Comment

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood
Anybody think the 1st was graphically better than this one? Maybe it's just me. I'm playing this right now on a PC with everything maxed out on the highest resolution, but I think the 1st one looked better. Then again it's been a while since I played the first one. I'm going to go back and compare some screens because something just doesn't seem right.

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood
Ok I changed my gamma levels and it looks a lot better. I had them way to high as the game looked extremely bland and washed out before.

Right in the nads.

I know most have it for console so a quick question, how does the Concentration mode mechanic for Thomas feel? For PC you have to hold the left mouse button down and physically drag the mouse back, pick it up, move it up, and drag it back again. I'm so used to using a mouse for shooters but I might have to use my pad for this game because I love using Thomas (lasso ftw) and dragging/picking up the mouse doesn't feel very authentic. I imagine a quick flick of the RS feels a lot better.Last edited by eDotd; 07-01-2009, 11:18 PM.

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood
Well initial impressions are extremely bad. This is the first time I've ever failed a tutorial,in fact I failed it 3 times. First time I tried to jump on a box and over another box to get to the star but nope wouldn't jump on it and the fail screen came up. Second time I had to look around where to go and it failed me soon as I got to the ammo box. Third time the idiot partner AI apprently can't shoot for crap and got killed because I was only aiming at my section figuring they'd be able to handle theirs. At least I actually got to shoot stuff unlike the first game.Comment

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood
wow....tis game just oooozes fun. These are strictly multiplayer impressions as I haven't touched the single player so I'll be back with more impressions on that later.
Anyways,
the online is just straight out addicting. What I love is that it takes one shot or 2 shots to down someone , just like the COD series. The weapons that i tried were cool as hell and felt very real. I am a methodical player and I just hate run n gunning, and everytime I tried that I got killed. even with the dual guns you can't really afford to run n gun, you gotta stay low pick ur spots and unleash hell.
The gunslinger class you can dual wield, you get a dynamite to throw or you can even use a single pistol for a longer range accuracy shot ( since you can aim further)....the dual wield is good for close combat....so this class is versatile. The reload is faster and the shots are quicker.
I love sneaking on the guys who use the rifles. I spot them hiding out in a 2nd story window, and then I will slowly creep up on them unseen , go up the stairs, stealth kill with a bullet in the back of the skull.
I actually used the rifle class to start out the game, and this is a deadly weapon from mid to med-long range. You really can't run n gun with this one either because the shots don't go as quick as the pistols, so if you miss a shot from close a ranger against a gun slinger class, you're done for, unless the opponent has crap aim.
For example , when I used the gunslinger class, I was in a medium range shootout with a rifle class. I was hiding behind a wagon, and I baited him into a shot, he missed and before he could get off another shot, I put 3 bullets in his torso for the kill. Very very staisfying. if you go head to head with a rifleman , you will get killed instantly. You gotta make him miss once, and then take advantage.
I feel like Billy the Kid hahaha......
just a great online experience.
Great game modes too, the legends mode where you gotta defend banks and such is also great ( would be awesome if you have a team and you can communicate), there is shootout( deathmatch), posse, and manhunt ( attack a wanted man, or defend one)
For shootout, since it's a free for all, i always asked for custom match and limited players to 8 Max. With more, it becomes too chaotic and won't let you use any strategy since everywhere you move, there will be a guy shooting at u.
Great great game.....EXACTLY the type of shooter I was looking for.
not run n gun
takes 1 to 3 shots to kill
good graphics
balanced, versatile and varied weapon classes
nice game modes
edit: There is no kill/death tally, from what I checked so I'm not even sure how you win a deathmatch game....I think you do better with the more kills you get, not the better ratio but I could be wrong, so it might hamper the slower players like me, but who cares....i don't need the number 1 next to my name. Much more satisfying going 10-2 than 20-17 for me anyways.Last edited by phillyfan23; 07-03-2009, 03:52 PM.Comment
