Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood

Quick ? When in MP, it says "waiting for players for ranked match" however, you can still play the game as in killing opposition, and having to wait to respawn after you get fragged. After a little bit, it says something like "balancing teams to start match".

So, is the first part just practice? Does it count? I don't get it.

Also, I got a notice that I could upgrade my miner. How do I do that? I went to all menus and nothing stood out. What gives?

The spawn camping in MP get old really, really fast. I like the game and all (if it stays connected through an entire round) but the camping really pisses me off.

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood

        Well it turned out decent.

The AI can actually fend for itself so that's a +.

        Story is enjoyable.

Cover system...well it works I guess.

Showdowns are awful. Most of the time there's not even an effort to get the gun. I even got a finger wag AFTER the bell rang.

I've been playing as Ray the whole game. This became a problem near what I think is the end,I'm not sure because I'm having massive ammounts of trouble here. You're forced to play as Thomas, wich was fine for tutorial type missions but at this point if you've never played as Thomas he's not going to have any decent weapons. Apprently they didn't consider this because this part is overly difficult when there's an infinte supply of enemies and they all take 3 shots to kill because you don't have a decent weapon.

To continue along that path,at some point I HAD to use a gatling gun. When I pressed X to use it it ALSO picked up a nearby gun a previous enemy had dropped. I didn't get a chance to pick it up cause there was a cutscene right after,so I lost my best gun. When I finally got to a gun store I was $1 short of getting the best one they had! Can't sell your current guns for some reason or shoot the guy and just take them. After getting a bit into the level and getting the $1 trying I wasn't able to go back because I "left" my brother behind and got the fail screen.

For the final complaint, this concentration thing isn't done very well. I was playing as Ray because I couldn't even figure out what I was supposed to do with Thomas. Not that it matters since it seems I always fill the meter for it with one guy left. Since you only have 60 seconds to use it it's rarely been useful and has often run out during cutscenes.

Much better than the first at least.

Re: Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood

          ^^

I agree with the single player, I did the first level and from what I've seen the Cpu Ai is good. I don't know if you were talking about brother AI, but to me the enemy AI is solid, takes cover ,etc. I do play on Hard with all aim aides off, so maybe that's why it felt challenging.

The thing that I like is that, for the first level at least, is that there are no respwaning enemies. Is this consistent for the whole game? I hated that about COD series.....

          More online impressions:

          1) spawn camping sucks but I really don't care that much, because it's not really widespread. if you encounter it, exit out and find another game. I don't play to win, just to have fun so it doesn't bother me that some idiot has to cheat to make himself feel good.

          2) I haven't unlocked the duelist class ( with the powerful volcano pistol) but I've played almost exclusively with the gunslinger class ( fast pistols, not the strongest), and because most people use either the sniper or the veteran class (super-powerful rifle), the online becomes a long distance affair. It would be cool if we can choose guns available so that everyone is required pistols....

I just can't compete mano a mano with the sniper/rifle , so what I've done is basically turned the gunslinger class into a semi stealth/semi surprise attack class. Lay low, and then attack. You also must use cover like crazy to be successful, if you run and gun using this class, you are SCREWED. Too many one shot kill artists online. Avoid open space, and go through houses and small/short alleys to travel. Gotta be slow to do damage really. It's much more rewarding for me to do well using this class other than sniper/rifle because it's just too easy using the long distance tactic,.....too many people online are just ripe to be one shot killed because of their run n gunning.

So, i've done well, but haven't finished first yet, because the game rewards total kills not kill ratio. I have no problems at all with that, but some would. I finished with a 1.95 k/d ratio on both cod4/5 team deathmatch so it would have been nice to see my progress in this class. There is no way I'm close to that here. I'm probably at 1.3ish now with this game.

Hopefully, the volcano gun will change my tactics so that I can go on a more direct route against the opponents.

This game is a solid 9 for me, and I'm no western buff either.....sleeper hit, and it kinda sucks not enough people are playing it. Online could last a month or so....

It's over at 5 hours and 55 minutes exactly (it counts seconds too),I left it on pause and turned away for 5-10 minutes a few times so it might be shorter than that. Only did one side missions and found 4/89 secrets. They have individual endings but you can choose to continue from the last chapter and see the other one. (I think so anyway,Thomas dies in one hit even on easy in this last fight for some reason...guess not, narrated by Ray either way, same ending. Unless you have to play as Thomas all the way through.)

DEFT you are so right. The Camping in this game is really bad. I'm shocked the developers did not catch this. The minute you spawn. Bam!!!!! not even a couple of seconds to get back into play. It kills the MP in that area. Good thing not everyone plays this way.

Forgot to mention I think the voice acting is quite well done for the most part.

Picked this up today. For whatever reason I've been dying to play a decent old west game for the past few years so I hope it fills that void

"Techland, the developer of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, announced three pieces of DLC are on the way but few other details. Two will be multiplayer map, the third is for the singleplayer mode.

If they waited a bit and put the single player one in the game it might've been more than 6 hours.

what level did you play on goh? I'm playing on hard all aides off, and i'm in the middle of chapter 5 and it took me around 3 hrs 30 mins to get there.

Easy of course...I failed the tutorial 3 times, can take the hint. Though playing on another difficultly isn't going to add more levels. Could go through again as Thomas to see if playing the full game as him changes the ending, that would add to it but I guess he dies in one hit most of the time so it'd probably just be frustrating.

ya that's the reason why you finished in 6 hours. I just got done chapter 5 ( out of 15) and it showed 4 hours and change in the game log.

guess what ? I'm playing as Thomas and it's not bad at all. His rifle is great....can't wait to play as Ray after this run thru though. Single player is so well-done. when you die, it never feels cheap

It feels like COD series in the western setting, with no respawning enemies and smarter AI. two things I wanted differently from the COD series offline mode......

More OSers need to get this game....a posse of 6 with good communication can do some major damage online...

No I beat it in 6 hours because it's 6 hours. I just did chapter 1 over again and did it 15 minutes faster than I did on easy, probably because I knew the cannon goes where the bottom of the crosshair is and not the middle. You just play slow. The Gamespot review says 7 hours with side missions wich I admitted to only doing one of,IGN says 10 hours or less and TeamXbox says 6 hours. Might as well get the cow achivement while I'm here.

well I guess it depends on how you play and the level of difficulty...you're right about that. If i try to play fast on the hard level , I will get killed so fast. hehe, it kinda forced me to take my time, use cover etc. u have this for ps3 eh ? if on 360 maybe we can do MP together.

It's definitely not 6 hours on hard. Running through the level will get you killed so quickly it isn't funny.
