        Offically:

        · Grand Funk Railroad – “The Loco-Motion”
        · Grand Funk Railroad – “We’re an American Band” X
        · J. Geils Band – “Freeze-Frame” X
        · Joy Division – “Love Will Tear Us Apart” X

Also Alex Rigopulos has been traded into Gamestop for $40 credit:

As many of you know, Harmonix is once again an independent game studio. While this offers us a great deal of flexibility and some amazing opportunities, it also means that we're forced to take a hard look at our current structure to find out what will work best for us moving forward. As of this morning, we will be saying goodbye to our CEO and co-founder Alex Rigopulos, who was traded in to GameStop late last night.

"It was a really difficult decision for us to make," said fellow Harmonix co-founder Eran Egozy, "but once we saw his creator rating on Metacritic, we realized that now was the time to make this move. Plus, his trade in value was awesome. For a "gently used" CEO you can get, like, almost forty bucks in store credit." Mr. Egozy wasn't prepared to make an official announcement about how Harmonix plans to spend that $40 credit, but hinted that management is considering "putting it towards a 3DS, or maybe a pre order on Portal 2, because those both look pretty bad ***."

        ...

To that end, everyone is pitching in and we'll be hosting a Harmonix wide yard sale on the streets of Cambridge from noon until 5pm on ***** 1st. We'll be selling off old games, hardware, ideas, ***tures... whatever it takes to get to be where we need to be. Highlights include Eric Pope's hat, a chair Dhani Harrison once sat in, and dirty limericks written by Helen McWilliams for only $50 a piece, which is the going bargain price for creative genius nowadays.

If I hadn't needed to take a singing break I'd have the e-word RB achivement for 5 starring everything on expert. Down to Caught in a Mosh and Beast & the Harlot. Hated GH repeats and A7X enough already. Now the rental time is up and I'll have to get it next time. (I tried humming them with a half voice and almost managed to do them. I'm sure I can with full effort.)

I'll finally buy this, not that it'll last very long I guess.

No way we see RB4 this year. If anything, maaaaybe a jumbo patch, aka RB3.5.

In fact, we might not see RB4 until the next generation of hardware. Something that can actually support 7 players scoring and on-screen.

I dunno, can they patch everything they messed up with this? I really don't think they can. They messed up a lot and some of it just doesn't seem possible to fix.

but obviously RB3 is not selling as well as they hoped. why on earth would they invest the time and effort into making a RB4 at this point?

On top of patching user complaints, there's a significant amount of stuff they could add, I think, particularly to the ends of accessibility, social media, and further bridging the gap between pantomiming music and playing music. For example:
                            • Kinect support; motion tracking for characters on screen, controllerless gameplay for guitar, microphone, and drums (this is big because the $70+ for a plastic guitar controller is becoming a ever-bigger entry barrier)
                            • some sort of "jam" mode, utilizing the Pro instruments; i.e. you make up the song, practice on your own, or play along to songs on your console; license Line 6, etc. for simulated amps, effects, drum samples, etc. and do all this about ten thousand times better than GH-Tunes did
                            • on the same note, lower initial entry barrier for authoring songs for Rock Band Network via this "jam" mode; record your own songs in the game, use on-disc tools to edit tracks / note charts, post to community for submission + moderation, etc.
                            • more social media features; if you author a new song or reach some new skill status, have an option to share via Facebook or Twitter; also, some sort of metagame (beyond fan count) to encourage the progression of a player's skill on Pro instruments; have a dedicated and separate "amateur" section of RBN where any player can post a song for free to RBN for others to download and rate without the need for an XBL Creator's Club account, allow these tracks to be rated / Liked / Retweeted / etc.
                            • more and more varied Pro trainers
                            • expanded online gameplay beyond quickplay / battle of the bands; true drum battles / guitar duels / rap battles? lol
                            • Led Zeppelin (if they left everything else the same and just added this, I'll buy lol)

Given the success of Dance Central I think the first bullet point is something we should definitely expect of the next Rock Band game.

No. It was reviwed as the best of the RB games. It's just that the guitar hero genre is not selling like it used to.
