I just haven't been successful doing this when the ball is teetering between either the right or left outlane and the safe drop to the flippers. It seems no matter how I nudge the table I lose the ball more often than not when it is teetering on the edge in those positions.
    Try nudging forwards/backwards.

Re: Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (PS3/360)

I was stoked after reading all your kudos about this, and I absolutely love pinball, still play via emulator, but this whoops the crap outta the emulator. Hoping that sales are good enough to warrant another game, as there are definitely some tables I would like to see released in another package like this.

Only gripe I have about the game is the Williams Challenge not being able to save your progress, or can you? I played Whirlwind for an hour last night, and just was too late to continue the challenge. I did end out getting around 70 million, and top 40s on the leaderboard so that was cool. Try before that I made the top 80s in Taxi as well.

Loving the tables, Funhouse and Whirlwind I played the snot out of in the arcades when I was much younger.

Tables I would love to see in a future collection:

      The Addams Family
      Twilight Zone
      Fire!
      F-14 Tomcat
      Cyclone
      Banzai Run
      Earthshaker

Those are just a few of the ones that I played plenty of in my younger days. Many more, hopefully the fact that it was hard to find this is a good sign. They did an amazing job of re-creating these.

Hey guys..possibly some good news on the pinball front. Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection is coming out for Wii in December. Hopefully that means we'll get an improved 360 version sometime next year the way we did with the Williams Collection.

Went on a bit of a pinball kick with Marvel going free on PSN, from that to Zen and this game and Visual Pinball. Ran across this in the process:

The Pinball Arcade - Classic pinball tables recreated for the iOS, Android, Playstation, xBox, PC and Mac

Stern and Bally on board with Farsight Studios (the makers of PHOF) too? Count me in! And it appears that this is going to be a downloadable title as opposed to disc-based like PHOF.

I'm all over that. I played a lot of Theater of Magic when it came out in the mid 90's. And I like that they said there will be DLC for years to come.

Re: Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (PS3/360)

I was doing a bit of reading up on Stern since I'm not too familiar with their pinball games, save for one (Monopoly) - turns out they own the rights to Sega and Data East tables as well. Data East in particular has several tables that I'm very familiar with, such as Lethal Weapon 3 and Apollo 13.

I'll always remember the shootout in Lethal Weapon - I think shooting the orbit activated it and you had to grab the gun/ball launcher and rapid fire it right in the middle of play to get the most points. Even better was when it came up during multiball - good luck being able to pull your right hand off the flipper to go for that gun!

No idea on Ripley's (but it's good to see they've been able to acquire licenses like that, bodes well for future tables). Haven't played Theater of Magic either but it seems to be rated pretty highly. Got a taste of Black Hole in the Gottlieb Collection, but the game's physics are a bit floaty and I don't think it really did the table justice. And of course TotAN is part of the game this thread was made for, so aside from maybe improved physics I don't know what more they can do with that.

With Williams still being involved, I still want to see my favorite pin of all time - The Getaway: High Speed II.

I was a huge pinball player when I was a kid & its funny because I remember when I used to go to the local arcades no one would really play pinball games except for me. Crowds would build up around new arcade games while I stood in the corner playing pinball. I loved it. For some reason I liked Demolition Man pinball. Don't know why cause the movie sucked.

Pinball is so pure. No loadouts, no whining brats, no lag.

It rewards skill, that is why it never gets old.

When I retire in 30 years I am going to get a few tables, I already have some space cleared out for it.

For me, Pinball is arguably more a part of my childhood than regular arcade games. It just gives me such a nostalgic feeling to play it so many years later.

I too would like to get a full-size machine sometime, but I must say I've been truly amazed with the things people have done with Visual Pinball. Search something called VirtuaPin on Youtube and you'll see what I mean (I know VP is emulation-related, and that's why I don't want to discuss it directly).

Behind the scenes at Farsight. 15 minutes, so grab some popcorn:

                                <object height="360" width="640">

                                <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dOgudjhHaw8?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="360" width="640"></object>

One of the devs mentioned a January release date, and there were a few hints at future tables - Harley Davidson, The Machine: Bride of Pinbot and Creature from the Black Lagoon are unannounced, but they had the real machines sitting in their studio. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to if you weren't planning on doing something with them.
