    Re: The Pokemon Thread

I posted this in a different video game forum, but thought it pertained to here as well. As many of you are aware, Nintendo is close to releasing their new console, the Wii U. Wouldn't a Pokemon game help bolster sales?

So I was thinking the other day, and I'm sure I'm not the first, that maybe Nintendo should take a shot at bringing its most popular handheld series over to the Wii U? I'm not talking about something like Pokemon Stadium or Colosseum, but rather, a flat out RPG. Obviously, they'd have to change up the formula, but why not? It could be a huge boost in sales of Wii U, and its something fans would love to see.

Now what I was thinking, but basically try and remake Red/Blue version. Throw together a 3rd person RPG where you create your own character, battles could still be turn based, or maybe try a new form of combat, give us the opportunity to gain companions to battle with/against as we please, and most importantly, create a world worth exploring with loot, and a variety of different areas to catch new Pokemon. Maybe I'm way off, but I feel like it would be a good idea to help the Wii U hit the ground running.

Sounds like a good idea, however I don't think it will happen. Far too creative, and strays from the formula too much for Nintendo. Nintendo have this habbit of sticking with the same formula and not changing from it, for their major Franchises.

Which is why I don't think we will ever see a Pokemon MMO, or an all out Console RPG. For next gen they will probably put out a Stadium/Coliseum type game for the Wii-U, and something like Black/White 3DS or a sequel for the handheld.

I'm now 5 badges into Platinum. I'm rolling with Prinplup, Luxray, Houndoom, Roselia, Scizor, and Kadabra. I'm thinking of dropping Kadabra. He just gets one-hit KOed all the time for me, plus a ground type might be more beneficial. I also want to catch a Tropius to replace Roselia.

Great thing about my team is that I dominate Psychic types, which always gave me trouble in previous games. Houndoom is dark type, Scizor is bug with a dark move, and Luxray has bite. It's awesome.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Just seems like something that'd help them sell consoles, but like you said, its probably too far from the norm for Nintendo.

I need another Advance and Fire Red, so I can trade to get a few Pokemon for my Pokedex... got almost 30 hours tied up into Fire Red now.

The pokewalker is pretty cool, got myself a Magby. Now trying to get Elekid, wouldn't be able to get these pokemons unless I get the national dex without the pokewalker. I thought about using AR to get the event location where you could get a flying Pikachu but didn't feel like going after the 2%/3% chance at it.

                    Re: The Pokemon Thread

Second gen game is just awesome, I could see myself spending countless hours on it. Here's my HG team so far:

Croconaw lv.24, chose Tododile as my starter cause it's pretty cool.
                    HM: Waterfall or Surf

Elekid lv.11, took me forever to get this guy from the pokewalker.
                    HM: Strength

                    Magby lv.12, My fire pokemon.
                    HM: Rock Smash

Murkrow lv.12, my flying pokemon. I like that it's a dark type as well. Was considering between this or Crobat.
                    HM: Fly

Looking for Tangela atm, and have no idea what to fill it for my last one. I'm carrying Oddish atm for cut. I need another water type I believe for either waterfall or surf (Maybe Whirlpool as well). I have a lot of options though.

Just pulled out the Pokewalker for the first time. Are you actually walking with this thing, because it's taking forever to get steps? I'm only at like 1200.

Not really, I did yesterday but you can just shake it up and down slowly.

Nice that works pretty well. Damn thing just reset to 0 for some reason though!

Do my other steps still count? Or do I have to start over? This is confusing.

I did do that on accident, but I was trying out shaking it and all the sudden my steps went from like 1400+ to 0.

Pretty sure that's normal, mine resetted as well when I woke up this morning. There's that.
Once per day, everyday at midnight the step count resets itself and you will need to rebuild your steps back up to meet that certain Pokémon or find that certain item. I have also heard reports that if you are using the PokéRadar and it hits midnight it will force you out from using it (that does not mean if you are already in a battle, that means if you are in the process of searching for a Pokémon)
