Re: The Pokemon Thread
After you beat the elite 4 and champion you get the PokeRadar and its a confusing difficult way to try to increase shiny odds.
It sounds and seems easy but in practice it's maddening.
I also added you to my FC list Marvell, my FC is in my sig.Last edited by ubernoob; 10-16-2013, 04:30 AM.badComment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
Cool, I really appreciate it. I should be on most of the evening. I wish I had better pokes to trade, but I am still early in the game.
I also added Millennium.Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
Also, because I'm a masochist for Pokemon... I'm going to keep track of what I'm breeding and exactly how many eggs it takes me. With the Masuda Method (one foreign Pokemon one native) its supposed to average out to one shiny egg every 947 eggs.
Shiny Munchlax is up first. 5 eggs at a time. Even with a flame body Pokemon up front this is going to take a while. Thank goodness I just do it while watching tv and riding the bike back and forth takes no attention.badComment

Dont Muchlax take forever to hatch too? Also, because I'm a masochist for Pokemon... I'm going to keep track of what I'm breeding and exactly how many eggs it takes me. With the Masuda Method (one foreign Pokemon one native) its supposed to average out to one shiny egg every 947 eggs.

So does the success/determination of shiny happen as it hatches (in other words can you just reset your game and rehatch them if the batch failed) or is shiny determined the moment the egg is made in the game (and you have to just pray that its a good one the whole time you are riding back and forth to hatch)?Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
From what I understand, the IVs/Nature/Shiny is determined when you recieve the egg. I've tried soft resetting and it seems like everything stayed the same for the batch. So far the hatching isnt bad - I caught a Chandelure that has the flame body as its ability so hatcing time is cut by 40 or 50%. Maybe 6-7 bike rides past the daycare from the city to the cave.Dont Muchlax take forever to hatch too?

Ahuff, shiny is just basically a rare color palette swap. Take Snorlax for instance... Instead of his normal green-ish color, he becomes like a royal blue. Charizard is black. The ducklett I posted earlier is the shiny version, normally its just a blue duck.
It doesn't matter to the gameplay at all, I just enjoy little things like that in the game.badComment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
I think it started in the second gen. And its value is in its extreme rarity. On pretty much every practical level...its insignificant. But having weird color things is awesome! Just imagine being the only kid (or guy in the office lol) with a freaking black Charizard!Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
Yeah, I think the shiny pokemon are extremely cool just based on rarity alone. I know they don't do anything special, but that doesn't stop me on my quest. I have never had a shiny beside that red gyrados in HG/SS.I think it started in the second gen. And its value is in its extreme rarity. On pretty much every practical level...its insignificant. Just counted the number of bike trips. I get all 5 eggs and then go to the first lightpole in (from the daycare side) Camphrier Town. I align myself to run into it from the left side, then ride west until I run into the side of the sign for the cave. There and back is one trip. It takes just over 12 trips for me to hatch all 5 eggs. A couple minutes of mindless holding left and right.
Would suck to not havw flame body. Every 25 eggs I check the GTS. Normally a trade happens for me, but this one is taking linger since I out a Dratini up seeing if I can get someone's Xerneas haha.
j dont even use the legendaries I just like having them.badComment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
Ive had two. I had a shiny Psyduck, I think it was blue? And once I had a shiny Treeko as a starter. Looking back, how odd is that. You can draw a shiny starter from the start of the game lol. That sapphire version was the only pokemon game that I completed the pokedex as well.Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
This just flew completely over my head. Why are you checking the GTS? Dratini's are involved too? I cant find any fools that want to give away a Xerneas unless its for a legendary as well. Right now Im chasing Moltres all over the damn region. ANNOYING!I believe second gen as well.
