This just flew completely over my head. Why are you checking the GTS? Dratini's are involved too? I cant find any fools that want to give away a Xerneas unless its for a legendary as well. Right now Im chasing Moltres all over the damn region. ANNOYING!

Oh I just check to see if the pokemon I put up for trade went through. It breaks up the monotony of bike riding back and forth. Nothing related to breeding.

I've been offering Dratinis and Eevees for little stuff to help fill out the pokedex mainly.

Ampharoses are hot on the streets as well. But it takes a little training. Yesterday I spent too much time exp share whoring 5 mareeps to level 30. I made bank though. Dratini is definitely easier to do haha.

Okay, so my brother just told me there are Japanese versions of pokemon you can trade to get? Is there any website that explains all the nuances of the pokemon games a little better. I thought I knew this game well, but that apparently isn't the case.

Ampharoses are hot on the streets as well. But it takes a little training. Yesterday I spent too much time exp share whoring 5 mareeps to level 30. I made bank though. Dratini is definitely easier to do haha.

Ampharos has a mega evo, right? I have a feeling any pokemon that is fairly rare that has a mega will be hot for a little while still.

I just got an aerodactyl for one of the Dratinis, I might do that one when this munchlax experiment is over.

Just caught an Illumise on Route 7 after grabbing a Snorlax.

I've been keeping a laptop close by to look these Pokemon up because I don't know them. It says

lumise (Japanese: イルミーゼ Illumise) is a Bug-type Pokémon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is related to Volbeat, and the Eggs it lays can contain either Illumise or Volbeat.

How can it evolve into any other Pokemon ?

Just wondering if any of you guys more familiar can help me out here in trying to understand some of these whacky perks. I thought maybe by "form" you could breed it with anything kind of like a Ditto or something. I may be wrong with that, though.

Ilumise and Volbeat don't evolve. They're male and female of the same species, like the Nidorans of old.

You can breed it with a Ditto, and have a chance at getting either one (Volbeat or Ilumise) out of the egg.

Japanese versions are no different, they have this thing called GTS in the game that lets you trade with players from around the world by using a search engine for the pokemon you want, players will have that pokemon posted online for trade and they have what pokemon they are looking for in return. So you can end up trading with a player who is in Japan but there is no difference in the pokemon themselves. What other questions about pokemon you may need help understanding or figuring out. I been an avid players since the first gen...I might be able to assist in bringing you up to speed.

Yes and no to this.

Getting a foreign Ditto is HUGE to those (like me) who want to be masochistic and breed shinies. It doesn't have to be Japanese, but one Pokemon from your game and a foreign (be it JPN, German, FRA, ESP, etc.) game boosts the rate astronomically (while it still is a rare thing to get.)

That's the reason to get a foreign Pokemon like Ditto. Otherwise if you're just playing to play and don't care about any of that stuff? Yeah, then it doesn't matter.

So. I totally forgot that the best news is the PokeRadar returned. Gotta love it, though I seem to have forgotten how to chain properly (i'll get anywhere from 5-15 before I have a brain fart and go in the wrong patch of grass.)

Anyways, just chained for this ugly duckling.

Haven't really found too many good spots yet. So far the only one I've found that I like is on Route 7 just south of both cave entrances. I know they have Ducklett, Smeargle, Croagunk and possibly the two bug like pokemon (Ilumise/Volbeat) there. If I find any other decent chaining spots I'll be sure to post them as well.

Also, because I'm a masochist for Pokemon... I'm going to keep track of what I'm breeding and exactly how many eggs it takes me. With the Masuda Method (one foreign Pokemon one native) its supposed to average out to one shiny egg every 947 eggs.

Shiny Munchlax is up first. 5 eggs at a time. Even with a flame body Pokemon up front this is going to take a while. Thank goodness I just do it while watching tv and riding the bike back and forth takes no attention.

Isn't there a cheat code using Action Replay that makes you hatch an egg after like 1 step? I remember breeding things. Pokesav'd 31IV Ditto and 31IV parent pokemon, and bred them to get near perfect IVs and EV training them. It was honestly the most fun I had playing this game.

I bred a shiny Chimchar too, that was probably awesome. I didn't know about the foreign Ditto trick at that time though.
