Re: DJ Hero
I played this at a friend's house today - basically one of the most awesome gaming experiences I've had. Sooo much fun. Apparently DJ Shadow is signing the controller if you order the game from his website. I might have to do that now.

Re: DJ Hero
that won't be an issue. Activision already says they'll make this a series regardless of the sales from the 1st version. They even cite how Guitar Hero didn't pick up momentum until the sequels.Comment

Re: DJ Hero
Guitar Hero itself is a spin off from Amplitude wich was the sequel to FREQuency though that was before Activision had anything to do with it. Kinda came full circle here as DJ Hero plays more like those 2 games than GH. Switching publishers and devs all over the place of course.
I somehow missed the Shaft theme being in this.Comment

Re: DJ Hero
Haha thanks. I'll put up a different one later, i took a bunch of pics one day of scenes. Nerdy i know.
Anyway this game is too addicting. And there are a ton of tracks, I can't believe there 90 plus mixes in here. I'm playing on hard and routinely getting 3 to 4 stars.
What is everyones favorite track list or dj in the game? I love the daft punk list a lot. I really hope they put more house/electronic or some drum and bass in the future. I really thought that Paul Oakenfold song was awesome and it was different from the other mixes.
BTW i got owned by the Scratch Perverts. I couldn't comprehend half the time on what to do on the mixes.Comment

Re: DJ Hero
I'm more concerned with the actual controller. I've mimicked doing it to videos off youtube (yeah, lame, I know) and it just seems so awkward to me.
I've been meaning to head to a best buy and try it out just never got around to it.
Thanks, I may just take the plunge. If anything I may wait until Christmas and ask for it as a gift. B/w all the games out now, Assassin's Creed 2 and MW2 coming out soon... It's pretty stupid of me to keep buying all these games and not having the time to play them completely.
It's a sickness...
I don't know if this will help your decision, however the controls are quite intuitive. The tutorials help prep you for the game play. There are 5 levels of difficulty. My fiance plays on Easy and at present I am playing on Medium. Some of my students say that they are playing on Hard, however kids seem to pick these things up easier then I do.
I like the game a lot. My friend use to have the Tecnique 1200's and I use to love spinning on them. You cannot make your own mixes, however it the next best things. The Grandmaster Flash playlist has one set that has more scratching the you could believe. It was difficult, yet very enjoyable.
On top of all this, the music is awesome.

Re: DJ Hero
So, I caved and picked this up on Friday night. Took my controller to a friend's house Friday night and Saturday night to play it and finally got some solo time this morning. This game is addicting. Personally, I think its more fun than Rock Band (at least as a single player game). The controls are fun and really pretty easy to pick up on. I'm playing on hard and might test my luck with Expert. Is the only difference between Hard and Expert the scratch directions?
Anyway, my favorites are the DJ Shadow mixes. Jazzy Jeff's are pretty slick too. The Cypress Hill mixed songs are awesome. Basically, I haven't run into a song that I dislike yet.
