Re: Killzone 3
Killzone 2 is what made me realize that I really can't stand first person shooters unless there is some kind of hook outside of the shooting(The Darkness, Borderlands etc). Everybody talked about how great it was but it was just boring, plus the brown world it took place in didn't help.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Killzone 3
yea the MP kinda died early for me too. im sure if all i had was a ps3 i woulda played it alot more tho. the mp just needs some help and i hope naughty dog can help them out a lil bit in that area. it was a crazy frag grenade fest and mass chaos. kinda disjointed the whole thing for me. ill prolly give it a chance tho. i like the story and graphics were off the hook. if they get that MP under some kinda control and also tighten up the controls a lil, i'd be down for part 3.Comment

E3 2010: Killzone 3 Hands-on
There are no pre-renders, no elaborate unplayable cut-scenes and no false promises; Killzone 3's reveal is pure and simple – an extended hands-on with the fourth level of a game that we're thrilled to report is full of awesome. In a cinema a few hundred yards from Guerrilla's studio in an Amsterdam that is, thanks to an ongoing strike from the city's refuse services, looking as grimy and hostile as the surface of Helghan itself, we're given the first look at a game that's going to get PS3 owners frothing all over again. There's one more gameplay element that our first hands-on with Killzone 3 introduces, and fittingly it's the most bombastic of the lot. The WASP is Killzone 3's all-singing, all-dancing new rocket launcher, and it packs one hell of a punch. Like the mini-gun before it, the WASP slows player movement and also like the mini-gun it helps turn Sev into a one-man army. Primary fire unleashes a barrage of missiles that corkscrew their way to the intended target, with smoke wisps trailing in their path. Secondary fire sees players looking down a scope, locking on to a target and then unleashing death from above as rockets fire into the sky before plummeting down and splintering across whole areas of the battlefield. It's similar to Modern Warfare's tankbusters and it's a brilliantly over-the-top addition to Killzone 3's arsenal.
Of course, there's more to be shown of Killzone 3: nothing's being said of multiplayer or co-op right now and when asked whether it'll support Move, the response is tantalisingly elusive. But we're getting ahead of ourselves and on this showing Killzone 3's already proved that it's got bite to accompany its bark. There are no pre-renders and no false promises, and frankly Killzone 3 plays so well right now it doesn't need them.Comment

This is sounding so great, I wonder if this will be a 2011 release date.

Re: Killzone 3
I am hoping that this is 2011 release.......they are trying new things in the third game which has me intrigued.
Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.
Guerrilla Games showed Killzone 3 in action for the first time tonight at an event in San Francisco. Managing director Hermen Hulst was on hand to lay out some key details about the sequel -- unfortunately, any sort of release date wasn't among them.
Saying that the team was inspired by the ambition exhibited by other Sony Worldwide Studios releases, specifically Uncharted 2 and God of War 3, Hulst detailed planned improvements across the board for Killzone 3. Chief among them is more variety in environments, weapons, vehicles and enemies. Promising more epic, unique moments throughout, he pointed out that the first three minutes of the demo featured more cinematics and scripted events than the entire first level of Killzone 2.
We'll be delivering our full hands-on with the game at noon PDT, but for now you can read on after the break for more on Killzone 3's new environments, weapons and more.
Between showing clips of the demo we played -- a level called "Frozen Shores" -- Hulst explained that one of the goals of this sequel is to "really explore Helgan." Whereas the previous game was set in an urban environment, Killzone 3 will play out across wastelands, jungles and an arctic sea, all leading to a final act set in space. Calling the game a "colossal campaign," Hulst said to expect more vehicles, larger enemies and that all of the game's environments will offer "new play styles."
The more "epic" presentation came across during a clip where the player was controlling a turret on-board a dropship, firing on a Helghast oil rig as huge sections of it fell away into a raging arctic sea. This happened en route to a landing zone, where on-foot combat took place amidst snow flurries and heavy turret fire. The player in the footage eventually used one of the turrets to destroy a Helghast dropship, which spiraled out of control, slamming into a building and erupting into a massive fireball. They then removed the turret from its mount and sent swarms of missiles at another building, bringing down its system of catwalks -- and the enemies on them.
Hulst revealed that this demo level was 10 times the size of a typical Killzone 2 level, allowing for Guerrilla's designers to create multiple paths through it, expanding on the largely linear settings of the game's predecessor.
Wrapping up the presentation, Hulst noted that the game will make use of some new technology, including improved streaming (eliminating the loading hiccups encountered in Killzone 2) and positional "depth of field audio." Multiplayer improvements were mentioned, but not detailed, with Hulst only offering that, "it's safe to say that every wishlist feature has been addressed," adding that further info on the "more accessible" online experience will come later this year.
In one final clip, we got a look at what Guerrilla is calling the "brutal melee system" -- and it seems appropriately named. An ISA soldier took down multiple Helgast troopers using kicks to their heads, rifle stocks to their faces, and, in a closing shot, knocked an enemy flat of the floor, holding their head down with his boot before squeezing off a kill shot.Comment

Re: Killzone 3
I loved Killzone 1, but maybe it was because the time it was released.
I had extremely high hopes for Killzone 2, but after playing it for about a day.. I was all ready bored of it. It seemed sooooooo repetitive. I also couldn't believe that a modern game had such ****ty audio. The sound effects themselves were not that horrible, but the Helghast said the same **** over and over and over and over... just got boring quick.
If they work on the audio, and give the game a little more flavor this time around.. rather then the same repetitive gameplay.. I'll be down for sure.Comment

The Eurogamer interview was great. I love the increased level size, jetpack talk, and up close combat stuff.
I know I've said it plenty, but I'm seriously psyched for this.Comment

I agree this is sounding great, let's hope the story is fleshed out and we learn more about the characters which was missing in the first two outings.Comment
