Open Beta Coming to PSN on February 2nd

Hello PlayStation Nation! Killzone 3 launch is now just 30 short days away, but for those of you who just can’t stand to wait any longer, we’ve got some good news: The Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta will be available for download on the PlayStation Network on Wednesday, February 2nd.

This Open Beta will be available for free to all North American PS3 users and will run from Feb 2nd-14th, giving you the perfect chance to get hands-on with Killzone 3′s brutal online warfare and try out the revamped precision controls. You will also have the option to play using the PlayStation Move and stereoscopic 3D.

The Open Beta will offers exclusive early access to the MP05 ‘Frozen Dam’ multiplayer level from Killzone 3, including all three online multiplayer modes: Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone and Operations, along with the offline multiplayer mode, Botzone.

The graphics are amazing, but I'm really interested in playing it after having been in the closed beta. There was a lot of complaining during it on the forums. The devs chimed in and agreed with the community, saying it was Alpha Code and the complaints were addressed, but the new video shows everything people complained about: low health, copious amounts of aim assist, very little recoil, no ballistics deviation, Spot and Mark now acting as a wallhack and lasting to long. All radical changes from KZ2 that nobody asked for. The controls were greatly improved though and input lag is now minimal, but at the cost of losing the weighty feel KZ2 had.

I was afraid of that. Didn't play the first beta, but my greatest fear was that they would try to make this game into COD. If this game disappoints I will always have KZ2. One of my favorite shooters this generation. I hope they can listen to the community though.

I may give it a rent for single player sake. KZ2 single playere was alright but the story interests me.

I thought that video looked awesome. I know they "mainstreamed" it a bit, and the comparisons to COD are a given... but it's Killzone, so it looked amazing

Let's hope the campaign is much more fun than COD, which the last few have been just ok imo.

For what it's worth I never got the COD comparisons from the closed beta. It still felt very much like its own thing, just not a whole lot like KZ2 outside of the look and sound. I can see it being very polarizing amongst the fans if things haven't changed much since then.

The jury is out on the multiplayer for me, but I'm excited for the single player. I thought KZ2 had the best close quarters combat since the original F.E.A.R., and now it looks like the campaign will retain that while having more variety and not a paper thin story.

The campaign is looking killer and I can't wait as were a month away. The CQC was well done in KZ2.

Didn't the game go "gold" like the last week or two? This isn't really an open beta, but more so a demo.

I normally like shooters that are more grounded in realism like say Battlefield BC, Socom, etc. I think what makes Killzone cool is they straddle the line between realism and Science fiction so well. I will defianly try out the open beta when it's available.

I agree, MP was also very well done with KZ2 which actually made it fun.

Just paid this beast off, now starts the 3 week wait. Thank the man above, there is the open beta starting next week!
