Killzone 3 - Single Player Demo Coming In February

Killzone 3. The Jetpacks. The Brutal Melee. The PlayStation Move. The 3D!
Ever wanted to get your hands on the action? Killzone 3 may not be out until 02.22.11, but we’re giving you a chance to hop into the “Icy Incursion” level that takes place halfway through the campaign.

• February 15th is the day that Killzone 3’s Single Player demo hits the PlayStation Store.
• PlayStation Plus members will be able to download the demo on February 8th!

Strap on that jetpack and take flight through the arctic environments of Helghan.

There will be two separate downloads available from the PlayStation Store: one in 2D and one in 3D. Both versions will take place on the “Icy Incursion” level. Don’t worry – downloading the 3D version and playing it on your 2D TV won’t break anything … you’ll just see a message saying “No 3D TV detected.” The 2D version has splitscreen coop as well, a feature not available in the 3D demo.


All PlayStation Plus subscribers who have automatic downloads enabled will receive the 2D single player demo of Guerrilla Games’ upcoming blockbuster. As a reminder, PlayStation Plus subscribers can turn on the Automatic Download feature under “System Settings” on the XMB. This feature will update your PS3 with firmware updates, patches to recently played games and other select videos or game demos.


These demos will be PlayStation Move enabled, giving gamers a chance to experience Killzone 3 with the most immersive controls. When you get your hands on the demo, be sure to try out one of my favorite new mechanics, the Brutal Melee attacks! Get close to your enemy and hit the melee button (or thrust your PlayStation Move motion controller at the screen).


The aiming and movement mechanics have been tightened since Killzone 2. Play around with it and let us know what you think!

Oh crap, that guy shoved his thumbs into the enemies eye sockets in that video!

I liked Killzone 2 but the only thing that bothered me was all the bullets it took to kill the other guy online. Everything else was great in that game. I might have to get it again so I can finish the story. I think I only got half way.

Well then you will be happy if nothing has changed from the closed beta. It doesn't look like it has much from the latest videos. Health was minimal and pulling the trigger when the reticule was red equaled guaranteed kill no matter the weapon. I personally didn't like it, if it's going to be like that at least decrease the ridiculously high aim-assist. A hardcore/classic mode that plays more like KZ2, but keeps the greatly improved controls of KZ3 would be awesome and appease the community greatly.

That is a great idea. I would be all for something like that. A little bummed out there is no cinema/theater mode though. I figured that they would blow all the features out this time around.

Just a few more days, for the demo. Brings back memories of when the KZ2 demo was about to drop. Most anticipated demo ever for me.

Killzone fans! We know you are eager to join the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta and the team at Guerrilla Games has been hard at work finalizing the content. The good news is that the beta is looking better than ever and we can’t wait for you to try for yourself. Unfortunately, we’re here to report that we will have a slight delay on the beta availability. The open beta was originally set to begin on Wednesday, February 2nd, but will now be available on Thursday, February 3rd at 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time.
